Sounds good to me UpsizeTime, we might even get Unrealhome in on the deal and make it three for one

Sounds good to me UpsizeTime, we might even get Unrealhome in on the deal and make it three for one Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 182May 28, 2013 3:26 pm carak777 We have been uncertain about the moroka colour on the front porch. When were deciding on colours at our external colour appointment we looked at many but two stood out Hamstead and Gallagher - we chose Hamstead. Now after taking our sample brick and the colour sample card to the house on the weekend (full story on my thread) we are going to change to the Gallagher. The Hamstead is a bit more brown and the Gallagher more 'blue', just hope our home will not be classified as the 'blue house'. Carak, love the colours...very smart. We're also looking at the darker bricks available and will render the front porch pillars. We have to look at a hundred houses for the colour combinations we like. Also I took your advice and started a spreadsheet of requirements, room by room...boy is it becoming comprehensive! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 184May 28, 2013 7:16 pm Spoke to D today about my long list of amendments. It was a great conversation about what has to be amended and he thought the changes I made in the house are heaps better for our requirements. Went through a few individual items and discussed what our options could be. Discussed the fireplace and mentioned as a joke our 2 for one deal, LOL, he was surprised at who I have been talking to, told him it was all good, just my kurmond buddies. He is going to put that fire place design in our family room, the plan will indicate the mantel and then a recess for the TV above. The actual instalation and placement of the fireplace we will do after with maybe impressions or another company. Have to suss that out further. It was good know that is progressing. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 185May 28, 2013 7:24 pm well done Upsize, fellow "kurmond buddy"! Sounds like you've got your skates on now and all things happening. How is that land registration going? It would appear you've nipped the fireplace concept in the bud, so sounding good all round! Good stuff. So good to hear you have progress UpsizeTime. So happy that D is including the fireplace in your plan. Even though we have signed off on the plan DH said we may be able to add the fireplace because it is an 'internal' not an 'external', hope so. Wonder how many people would like a fireplace, if we all band together we should be given a discount, especially if we show photo's of their fireplaces on H1, good advertising for them and it's free. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 187May 29, 2013 6:17 pm Unreal, the land should register end of June, haven't heard otherwise yet. It would be funny if we both get it, maybe they could do a good deal with impressions for us. Carak, would love a fireplace, but costs might be prohibitive. We'll wait for the tender (P is working on this now). But if we can get a discount I'd be keen! We've managed to reduce the house from 35 to 34 squares, which should give us the green light. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 189May 30, 2013 12:43 pm O.K. that's 4 fireplaces, anyone want anything else while I'm out Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 190May 30, 2013 1:04 pm carak777 O.K. that's 4 fireplaces, anyone want anything else while I'm out - perhaps a flat white and a tuna sandwich for lunch if you've got spare capacity?! I agree with the proposal - a bulk purchase may be good! Not sure how much they consider 'bulk' and whether they would want us all to purchase the same fireplace (which may not be good if you want two logs and I want one ) Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 191May 30, 2013 2:06 pm unrealhome Sorry the flat white had gone frothy and the tuna had swum away - sorry Think I might have to very seriously look into the fireplace deal. Just need to practice my 'negotiating' skills. Fireplaces are different to fruit & veggies at Paddy's Markets. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 192May 30, 2013 6:33 pm you guys are hilarious, tuna sandwich swam away. Too funny. Carak if you mention it I will next time I speak to D, maybe they could set up a partnership with Impressions. Might be good for business, for impressions anyway. They would have one with the AC company which I think is Actron, have to check that, and one with Blanco. What's one more with a fireplace company. How do you all get P to do your tenders, I feel left out. D is good, just hope he is giving me the best price??? Sometimes think boss can give a better deal. have to wait and see what our tender comes in at. No wonder I was starving today - will need to re-assess my lunches! - Okay Capt'n Carak - lead us on to discounted fireplace territory! Upsize We've never dealt with a salesperson as P called directly in response to a web enquiry and we went from there. I still think its good to have a dedicated salesperson and I'm sure you will get the same discounts. Hey Carak: I would DEFINITELY be in for a Fireplace Deal!! with 5 or so you should be able to get a 20% discount easy..! Wait till Summer as well.... Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 197May 31, 2013 5:17 pm I love a good negotiation, just ask my DH, he says I used to embarrass him when I negotiated electrical or cars. That is until he realised how much it can save. Thinking of going into impressions this weekend, want to talk about our design, so might mention it to them, see what they say. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 198May 31, 2013 11:49 pm DH and I have been discussing colour of our of bricks and external paving etx and are now both thinking we don't want a pale colour brick. It won't be enough contrast in the backyard. So, hard to get the whole house colours to flow. Think we are back to drawing board on that on. Now to find another day to go and check out more bricks. What is everyone else up to this weekend? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 199Jun 01, 2013 10:12 am UpsizeTime DH and I have been discussing colour of our of bricks and external paving etx and are now both thinking we don't want a pale colour brick. What is everyone else up to this weekend? Oh dear back to the bricks again know what that is like Getting the brick colour that 'feels' right is soooo hard but once you have decided, believe me you will feel so much better. Then you can get on with the next decision Must take a trip to Expressions myself soon. Love the fact that they have prices on their website. Like the idea of the 'preferred supplier' between Expressions and Kurmond, I'm pretty sure that it was Impressions we were talking to at the Home Show and they said they have done quite a few fireplaces for Kurmond. Would have to look into if it would be cheaper to do after or have Kurmond supply & fit - no idea of the mark up that would have to be added. No idea what we are doing this weekend a bit 'over' building a house at the moment..... floor plans, bricks, windows, doors, tenders, contracts........ doing my head in big time. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 200Jun 02, 2013 7:16 pm What a day, weather wise and house! The kids stayed at our parents last night so we had the day to run around and look at house things. We focused on fireplaces, appliances and then topped it of with looking at colours at Kellyville homeworld. Wow, fireplaces, we are going to have to pull out of our deal with preferred supplier at impressions. We went to Jetmaster and looked at there fireplaces, and they are really nice. We have decided on a wood fire place look and the way they have theirs looks great. There brand is called heat and glo, and when the fire burns the logs actually glow. Guy was very knowledgable, weird but knowledgable. An interesting point was the amount of the heat outputted by the fireplace vs the fashionable long slender look ones. We looked at the 6000TRSI and the heat out putted was very warm. It was interesting the number of fire places that had a very low range of heat output. We want to be able to feel the heat radiating from the fireplace. The other thing we looked at was the blanco appliances. What are you guys doing? I am in two minds whether to go with the diamond range of freestanding oven or get the silver range ones or separate oven and cooktop. I like the look of wall ovens and then the cooktop sitting in the bench top. With the freestanding one I am thinking about the cleaning under and around the oven. Would love others opinions on this one. Might have to wait until kitchen consult to nut this one out. We went into a lot of houses today, in out in out. Soooo very tired. Some of the designs in these houses are just terrible! DH and I ask ourselves what are the designers thinking. Some are very bland, makes it hard to get ideas. After it all, I guess it helped with a few things. But so much more to do. D said he will have our plans ready on Tuesday for us to look over, so looking forward to that. Then hopefully the tender will come in and we will either fall over or skip for joy, if that is possible. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74709 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
