Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1367Nov 24, 2015 8:42 pm Mouses and EK1976 How wonderful for you both. That is fantastic news! Well done and congrats. Quach and Ses Ah, you guys are with me and enjoying the journey of building with Delay Homes who guarantee... well absolutely nothing except delays. Work still incomplete on my site and no date for handover. We were originally told by one of the owners he could build our home in 4 months, we expected 6 months and are currently up to 9 months. Damn those delays. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1368Nov 25, 2015 5:27 am Thanks everyone. It is good to have the keys but we still have a fair bit to do before it feels like a home. Our SS suggested the pics would go up online (though we avoided the obligatory handshake photo) so that may save me from uploading. I guess the wet rooms all look good but the other rooms don't look very exciting sans floors. It is a shame that some customers are having big delays and others are not. The inconsistency must be really upsetting. On handover they gave us a survey so when it comes to that you can let them know what they need to improve on. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1369Nov 25, 2015 5:39 am Mouses, how much room on that survey is there for comments LOL. You simply must show us the final product when you get done. We are almost 2 years since we started the 'journey' we were told 6 months, plus plans, just didn't expect it to take 12 months for them to get the plans correct and in. Looks like it will be just over 9 months for the build (which is what I had in my head when they said 6) Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1370Nov 25, 2015 7:00 am Oh good, a survey!!! Just what we all need Did you get a gift? I have noticed that Many other builders leave a handover gift sitting on the kitchen bench but I have not heard anyone mention any handover (or I'm sorry for the delays !) surprises on this forum?! Maybe if the sales people were more realistic in the beginning we all wouldn't be so damn frustrated!! Can't wait to see the FB photos!!! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1371Nov 25, 2015 7:44 am If sales people were realistic, they wouldn't sell any houses. I certainly wouldn't have signed up for a 2 year construction program. The cheaper price is offset by the loss of rent, interest to the bank, time etc. In the end it's not worth the pain and stress. It's too late for most of us now, but I certainly will never recommend this builder to anyone. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1372Nov 25, 2015 9:26 pm Our journey has been over two years since signing up and paying deposit. I think they should over estimate the length of time so if they build it faster we will all delighted and singing their praises. I am still absolutely convinced we would all have similar experiences no matter which builder we chose. On a good note, contacted our council re the occupation certificate. The guy we spoke to has inspected our home inside and out and is impressed at the quality of the finish. Just waiting to see it for ourselves..... Whenever that might be *sigh* Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1373Nov 26, 2015 5:41 am Surely Big Mama they are finishing off yours, I still can't fathom the level of frustration on how long this is taking for you. Hoping SS is true to his word and keys are in our hot little, well not so little, hands on the 4th Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1374Nov 26, 2015 11:37 am So I've been asked to progress a payment for the roof on a "partial completion" based on the HIA contract. Our roof isn't completely finished yet, did anyone ever have this requested of them and what did you tell them ? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1375Nov 26, 2015 2:15 pm quach128 So I've been asked to progress a payment for the roof on a "partial completion" based on the HIA contract. Our roof isn't completely finished yet, did anyone ever have this requested of them and what did you tell them ? I got my bricks invoice for "completion" of brickwork. I contacted them to tell them it hadn't been completed, and they referred me to the HIA contract about "substantial" completion, so I had to pay. I probably have these invoice to come shortly as my colorbond roof got finished yesterday, though guttering & eaves are not complete. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1376Nov 26, 2015 2:21 pm How's this for a doozy!?! I asked for some custom cabinetry to be added to the rumpus room at the back of my house (during tender process) - I provided all the measurements, which Kurmond were happy with. Turns out they didn't add the depth to their plans. Therefore a window placement is where the edge of the cabinetry should be. Now I have to wait for windows to be removed, frame rebuilt to move window openings across, and rebricking. Lucky I noticed this before gyprocking began!!!! Good one guys!! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1377Nov 27, 2015 7:54 pm I think I might be able to beat you on that returntoshire ! I called our SS for an update today as to why our roof is still not on, turns out there has been a issue with the frame not structurally being able to support the roof. A timber beam crossing the middle of the house seems to be warping. It was discovered upon the council frame inspection which I assume did not pass certification. Now the Bunnings engineers are meeting on Monday at the property to work out how to strengthen the frame. I don't know how long they will take to fix this. How's that for a doozy !? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1378Nov 30, 2015 3:34 pm I dunno who wins on those 2 doozys quach, but they are both a bit ridiculous!! I don't particularly want to win! Our first floor frames were delayed about 9 weeks with engineering problems!! That may or may not be a guide for you. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1379Dec 01, 2015 8:30 pm Been really quiet in here lately, either we are all too busy moving into our new homes or trying to find out what's going on. I'm the latter, roof still not finished but we had electricals done on Monday contrary to what the SS told us. Not sure about this major structural problem they need to fix. I rang into the office to speak to our CSM and found out she quit. Getting very concerned now ! Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
