Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1202Sep 19, 2015 6:18 pm Gosh Big Mama do they like you so much that they just don't want to finish yours because they'll miss you??? Congrats on the century, you qualify for a seniors card by the looks of it. quach128 looking good, things should start to look like they're happening quickly now New tile selections made this morning, nothing like our original choices available anymore. I think the new ones will work and I might even like them better. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1203Sep 21, 2015 5:52 pm Loks Oh yeah they love me heaps and never want to part company... Lol Quach We are up to the part in the construction phase where the builder hurries themselves up, stops farting around and finishes my damn house... That's what we're up to... Lol Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1204Sep 23, 2015 5:47 pm Tiling been delayed again for no reason. Will not start now until next week so it's been 8 weeks since SS asked tiler to confirm new tile selection with us. Grrrr. What is the excuse this time? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1205Sep 23, 2015 8:03 pm omg Big Mama you have to be at wits end. I'm also thinking is this what I have to look forward to over the coming weeks. Do they have stock of your tiles? Have they at least done the wet areas? Building with Kurmond Homes 1206Sep 24, 2015 2:01 pm Oh big mama, you are always 1-2 week ahead me, you can't have delays then I will be delayed ![]() Our painting will be complete today, then we have tiling, splashbacks, shower screens, driveway, electrical finish off and odds and ends, my contract finishes in 4 weeks I wonder what happens if they go over it? Does anyone knows? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1207Sep 24, 2015 8:11 pm Loks Wet areas were finished weeks ago. Alfresco tiles are discontinued but new selection only takes 2 days for delivery so no valid reason given for lengthy delay. EK1976 Still need to gyprock sky light plus cut new manhole cos they cut one which is blocked by roof truss. Then only tiling, alfresco steps, carpet, shutters and driveway. Not much but taking sooooo long. Don't pay any attention to your contract finish date as builder will no doubt go past that date and there is nothing you can do about it and no compensation to you. It is just a waiting game for all the trades to finish. On a good note, what has been finished looks fantastic and quality is top notch. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1208Sep 24, 2015 8:47 pm Big Mama that's like 2 weeks work tops, why oh why would they just not finish it? We've had very little done all week, should be looking at a pre-paint inspection shortly but alas they would need to actually turn up to finish the few little bits before that, no sign nor contact from SS, still have not been given name or contact details for the replacement one. Extremely poor customer service but like you Big Mama I keep telling myself what has been completed looks great workmanship is top notch. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1209Sep 27, 2015 12:10 pm Everyone, need your advice: How are you all planning to finish your side access paths? I have read conflicting info re concreting and how it is good to keep water away from foundations but must not concrete over the termite reticulation pipes. Maybe paving or crushed gravel but too hard to wheel full garbage bins over crushed gravel. I'm confused and welcome all advice. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1210Sep 27, 2015 4:35 pm Hello all here. Would like to have your opinion for how's your experience with Kurmond so far. Kurmond is offering very lucrative package which suits for my requirement. But by reading all these blogs very scary to go with them... if you please share your experience please...... Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1211Sep 27, 2015 6:42 pm Hey Big Mama We have 3 metres one side which we are planing on extending the driveway up the side of the house, most likely when we win lotto ![]() Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1212Sep 30, 2015 5:30 pm Hey everyone! Big Mama, I didn't even think about the bins!! Was looking at stepping stones and pebbles (or something) We can't do anymore paving/cementing due to 'floods' although later down the track ...what the council doesn't know won't hurt them' ![]() Loks How's everything moving along with you? We too have been trying to get in contact with our SS and discovered today by one of the workers that he has been 'moved on'.... Another one bites the dust!!! Maybe if they didn't keep us all hanging around so long we wouldn't notice all of the continual staff changes. I think we are going back to the original guy who was too busy to take us on a few months ago EK1976 How is vey thing going with you?? Quach Did you secure some brickies? How are they going? I was told that brickies these days are getting a little picky with where and how far they will go for work which is leaving a huge shortage, so once you get them don't let them leave until they are done LOL Well thank goodness there was some work on site today because someone was going to be getting a call. Things have been moving VERY slowly over the past month, which really isn't anything different unfortunately. But just as you reach your boiling point a little progress can be seen to hold off on complaining and keep you going for a few more weeks. We had 6 guys framing the second story today and it looks like they are ready for the roof to go on in the morning Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1213Sep 30, 2015 8:28 pm Ses78 I know exactly what you mean about the boiling point and then seeing a little bit done,, just enough to stop us yapping. Hubby drove past today and saw big pile of sand so maybe floor tiling has started. No contact from SS for several weeks so don't know what has been planned for next week. Gyprock still not finished! Man hole still not cut in correct location. I must say they are fantastic with their quality control of the paint work. Dozens of little blue stickers highlighting errors that need to be fixed. So what does get done is great quality. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1214Sep 30, 2015 9:08 pm Ses_78 We have had a really good run for the past few weeks. In the span of 3 - 4 weeks we've had carpenters, brickies, plumbers, electricians all doing their part at our site every single day! The bricklayer is doing a fantastic job and managed to wrap brick around the whole ground floor upto ceiling height. Our SS said they are trying to catch up on all the delays which were caused during the initial start. Yesterday we had the scaffolding delivered and today scaffolding installed. So tomorrow, I hope we have some brickies come back to finish up the top floor. Must admit it feels good to see so much progress in so little time. But I guess it won't last forever ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1215Sep 30, 2015 9:36 pm Ses78 Well, well, after selecting new tiles (nothing like original selection) Hubby met tiler out on site this morning to find incorrect tiling plan, no niche in main bathroom, painting started yet we have had no pre-paint inspection. Like you Big Mama no contact from SS previous or new for a month, no contact details for new SS, phone number provide from tiler. Rang left voice message, no response, rang office, previous Client services supervisor no longer with company, message left for SS to call me. When he rang excuse was he didn't have my number???? What it's all over our file. Is aware of niche issue, well thats great, pre-paint inspection well ok he'll meet us on site in the morning........ Rant over but at least we have had work happening. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1216Sep 30, 2015 9:47 pm Hi Ses78, Things are progressing well, every day there is someone on site finishing up. Which s a good thing ![]() ![]() ![]() Only things left, main tiling should started tomorrow, but now maybe Saturday/Tuesday, driveway, garage doors and electrical ...getting to end of tunnel... Unicorns and rainbows... Little annoyed at small mistakes, but they all getting fixed eventually..... SS won't give me a finish date... I just need to plan moving date.... Err Loks who is your new SS... Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1217Sep 30, 2015 10:01 pm EK1976 Only got a first name but assume it's TB, I'll find out in the morning We can't seem to get a finish date or even estimate either, very annoying as like you we need to plan and I've got to do fences etc before we can do the move so I dogs can't get out Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1218Sep 30, 2015 10:09 pm Hi Loks, yes looks like same SS, I find I have either to text or call him, he always gets back to me though.. Yes every time I ask for a finish date "it's about or around " never a confirmed date... At the moment we're about 3 weeks behind the supposed finish date... I think there told from head office never to promise any firm dates... Yes same here, we need to secure our Rottweiler and Labrador so they can move into their new home too ![]() ![]() ![]() Hi there!
