Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1189Sep 15, 2015 3:47 pm Loks After 2 weeks silence from SS and no communication re broken water main we call SS only to be told we have a new SS. So annoyed when were they going to tell us. Hi loks, how annoying who was you Ss "TB" I wonder if we have the same one? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1191Sep 15, 2015 5:16 pm EK1976 our previous SS was DB no idea who is our new one or why the change. So annoyed with the tiles as I've ordered new furniture with the tiles specifically in mind, here's hoping they have something very close to what we originally ordered. Guessing we will now have more delay while they order the new tiles once we get out there to pick them which we can't do until the weekend. Building with Kurmond Homes 1192Sep 15, 2015 7:15 pm Hi loks, you think they would leave the same ss as they know your job from the beginning... Which tiles did you have to change, we had to change main bathroom and exterior tile as both were discontinued but I am much happier with the new choices even though I paid extra for them... But my husband is a tiler and most tiles they can get under a week, so you shouldn't get any delays there, good news is that your job most likely is released for tiling. Big mama, it's sounds like you are towards the end after tiling its only small things and my ss told me after main tiling its 1st practical completion inspection. Which is also great news Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1193Sep 15, 2015 7:55 pm Thanks EK1976. Main tiles and bathroom tiles have both been discontinued. They are busily working on finishing gyprocking until 6:30 at night. Bill for lockup may have been a little premature as a valuation is needed before payment release and I don't think they were ready for that. Upside is it has made them get a move on so they can get paid. I just keep telling myself almost there almost there. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1194Sep 15, 2015 10:07 pm Loks You are progressing so well after such a bad start. Hey...wait for me to catch up. Our delays have been mainly due to gyprocker not coming back to site to finish up and all other trades have to wait for him before they can start. Also K said they booked our site clean up six weeks ago but that company will not give a date of when they will come to site. Discontinued tiles...ah...story of our life, huh? We have been hit with that too. It seems to happen a lot with builders. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1195Sep 15, 2015 10:19 pm Big Mama watch your water pipes when they finally come to clean site, that's how ours were ripped out at the street and they were only removing rubbish, you too could get an impromptu water feature. Wow what's with the gyprocker should not take that long. Got to wonder why they get you to do your selections so early in the process when this issue would come up a lot, we did our tiles well over 18 months ago Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1196Sep 17, 2015 12:21 pm Loks, we finally got our front door on Yesterday and there are lots of internal doors in one of the rooms so I am hoping they're fitting those today. They have put those squares of paint on all our gyprock so that's getting there. I think we're meant to have a pre-paint inspection next week after the carpenter and tiler this week and next. I wonder if our tiles will have been discontinued as well... Big Mama, I can't believe you have such delays now! That's frustrating. What needs doing for the gyprock? Yay for frames and bricks for Quach and returntoshire. I think as long as things are happening it is exciting! Hope things run smoothly from now. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1197Sep 17, 2015 6:46 pm Wow, some good news for some and some bad news for others. This building stuff sure is unpredictable!! We have not had much happening over the last couple of weeks, just a little bit of drainage here and there but yesterday saw a welcome delivery of frames and today the ground floor frames were progressing well. Let's hope the rain stays away and my neighbour doesn't contact work cover for the tricky balancing act that was going on Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1198Sep 17, 2015 7:03 pm HousesforMouses we are pretty much at the same stage, funny I've had a front door for weeks internal doors have been there stacked in the family room but not yet hung will see on the weekend if anymore has been done, I think the gyprocking may be complete. Need to select new tiles on Saturday. Ses78 Ground floor frames yay looking good. He's ok at that height, would only cause minor damage and perhaps a couple of broken bones if he fell. Here's hoping the rain stays away. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1199Sep 18, 2015 10:04 am Hey guys With my 100 forum posts Big Mama has knocked out a century *crowd goes wild* Loks Thanks for the info. They already burst the water pipes not long after they installed their fencing so I await an encore. Ses78 When he falls off maybe builder will install wheelchair ramp on yr site. Mouses Few more cornices needed plus really long internal sections for our skylight still needed gyprock as of last week. Everyone Was told tilling would be finished end of last week but won't even start until next week. Think painting might have been finished this week and maybe internal wardrobe shelves but doubt anything else was done. Awaiting return of kitchen benchtop cos they forgot to cut grooves and SS didnt even notice until we saw it during walk through. Handover was originally expected to be last week of Sept or first week Oct but now who knows? Had they sorted their subbies out properly then handover was right on track. Has cost us extra $5k in rent and we will be charged storage fees for all the new furniture we ordered. Not happy, Jan! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1200Sep 19, 2015 5:30 pm Drove past today and saw painters so went inside. Almost nothing done in last 3 weeks! Handles put on wardrobes, shower nozzles in, towel rails on and that's it other than painting being done today. Slack, slack, slack. Oh, rubbish removed from site and no water feature seen. Gyprock still incomplete! Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 76845 I would never build with Fowler homes.
