The maintenance guy is currently here checking out the leak, impressed it is Friday afternoon. Looks like roof tiler needs to come round. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 787Oct 19, 2014 9:12 pm I hope everyone is settling in well to their gorgeous new homes!! Is there anything that you would change or add if you had your time over again? We have just been told that council will officially approve our application this week I cant wait to get into the build process and out of our long and costly pre build journey. We have just had to do a second internal colour session as some things have changed since we did our first one back in Feb and some things had been missed, we met our second colour consultant, who is absolutely lovely and we are now onto our third pre build consultant. So we have seen quite a few staff come and go over the year, hopefully they will sort out this soon as it would be nice to work with someone that doesn't start the conversation with 'I'll have to check on it as I have just started here' . We went to pick up our tiles for the 2nd colour appointment we soon discovered that our order had been written down wrong by the girl that assisted us (she too no longer works there) we were very happy with the two girls that fixed everything for us on the day and hopefully everything else runs smoothly Just a couple of questions... How long was it from development approval or cdc approval to when the build started. I know that there is a 28 day period for the construction certificate to come through, but does it all start straight away... If anyone did a knock down rebuild, does the house get demolished straight away? I am hoping to have the house down and a slab down before Xmas so that everything can get on a roll in January. But I am sure that I am probably full of more wishful thinking For those who had private building inspections, who did you use? I have tried to go back through everyone's posts but I can't find any info. Not sure if the company name can be posted on here, if not I would be appreciate a PM. Thanks for your help Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 788Oct 20, 2014 10:03 am Hi Ses Once approval came through I believe they're contractually obligated to start the build within 20 days. For us, we got the approval early March and they had started towards the end of the month. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 791Oct 22, 2014 10:49 am So question for other people who have had their driveway done. How much did you get hit up for in regards to soil removal? I just got another variation this morning for a 3rd load of soil for the driveway (bringing it up to 36 tonnes of soil - $550 a load). I haven't been out there yet to take a look but this seems absolutely ridiculous to me as this is what the driveway looks like and I can't possibly fathom how there's 36 tonnes of soil needed to be removed:

Its great to hear from other people that are building with Kurmond. Everything is going well with Kurmond really loving their detail to work, especially painting and tiles. So far our house is about 3 weeks away from first inspection which is totally getting excited. You can see some instagram photos on a little website i setup. http://www.thelittlecornerhouse.com Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 794Oct 22, 2014 8:06 pm We also were credited 1 load. They do dig out a lot of dirt for the driveway. Remember it has to go below the kerb line and it is quite think. I have no idea how to picture what a tonnes is though Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 795Oct 23, 2014 10:35 am paulskee hey all Ive been looking through this forum for awhile and now decided to post something. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 796Oct 23, 2014 11:14 am mars78 Mckz your driveway appears very similar to mine and they only used 1 load and credited me 2 loads. Mars78, upsize, mckz may I know total driveway size including cross over ? The variation come up with total 49 M2 driveway plus cross over, they need 2 loads of soil to be removed from driveway $550 each. They also need to thickened edge to right side driveway & off patio total about $290. They said thickened edge purpose to reduce crack on driveway. Anyone have this? Victoria_gill we are building the Glenleigh design, just the basic with the diamond package. The shower head is not part of their packages, we enquired about different heads as we didn't really like the ones they had. They said we can pick from their caroma range and they will quote us on the cost of it. Went today to our house and the door knobs, upstairs floors have been sanded and a few more little things done. Tiles should be done tomorrow and over the weekend Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 798Oct 23, 2014 5:54 pm Siri33 mars78 Mckz your driveway appears very similar to mine and they only used 1 load and credited me 2 loads. All up ours was 51.5 including crossover and the extra charges we got this week were for an extra 3m² because they wanted to modify it to make it bigger ($363), the thickened edge as well ($220) and two truckloads of soil ($1100) The soil ended up coming to two truckloads. The 3rd was added as a mistake. SS says end of next week for handover but there's still quite a few items needing resolution (main being incorrect vanity installed in the WC and the cabinetry in the kitchen requires rectification as the workmanship on the edging is poor and a heap of scratches on the bench panels... The kitchen guy hasn't even been over to look at it so it'll be surely some time before he can get that sorted). I'll be impressed if he pulls it off but realistically I think the following week! Will keep everyone posted!
