The cabinets are in so next week they said painting will start. Our build started 13th of June. It doesn't help either that our SS is on holidays. Anyway, I just hope we can move in by end of October. We are being handed over to construction tomorrow after a long wait of 12 months. We received an email tonight asking for an extra $891 as the price guarantee that we paid ran out 2 months ago. I asked several times before signing 'what if we are a couple of months late' and was assured by the sales guy that they wouldn't chase it up. So we were mislead so we would sign the contract on the spot. This is supposed to be an exciting time but now I am angry and disappointed. Did anyone else get this the day before they went to construction? Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1848Sep 02, 2014 8:34 pm Oh no impish, I'm so sorry to hear of this personally no, I wasn't chased up and we were 2 months over our PWC but there was someone that posted on here a while back to say the same thing as you. There is no loss in trying to send them an email to say what you were told. I was holding my breath that they wouldn't ask me- I got stung with the $4000 bushfire provision just before we started instead! Good luck with your build... It's been a very long wait so I wish you all the best.
Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1849Sep 04, 2014 3:29 pm We got stung with 3 rounds of extra fees after we where promised there is no extra to be paid until the stage repayments. 1. was a council fee $150 2. Something else that was around the $400 mark 3. A fee for smoke detectors. It is really annoying, we had a horrid time post PWC signing until we where handed over to construction. So glad we don't have to deal with the office person again. It was so bad it cost them 2 other houses my family are building. So glad we don't have to deal with the office person again. It was so bad it cost them 2 other houses my family are building. We had the same issue, the Sales Consultant just want you to sign the PWC and don't really go through all the information. We weren't told that we had to choose a theme, it was only when we got home and read through the Prestart booklet that we found this out. And went back to our SC and he goes yes it standard, when we said you didn't tell us, he said we didn't have enough time to tell you everything.... What a joke! We also had to upgrade our facade and garage after our finance was approved because our house didn't meet council requirements. Which I don't know why they wouldn't know what they were since they bragged about knowing everything about the area since they built the house next door to us... From signing the PWC until being handed over to construction was a real pain in the a$$. But construction has been awesome, since June 20 when we were handed over it's flown, I went past today and they were just finishing the trusses for the roof and been told the roof and gutters should be up next week. Hopefully your construction moves more smoothly than with your paperwork with the people in the office! Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1851Sep 04, 2014 4:14 pm We have been happy with the sales person and the construction people but the woman in the office that was so unhelpful it almost made us cancel the house. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1852Sep 04, 2014 4:20 pm i second these opiniions....up until construction its a mess and headache....the girls in the office are just useless... 9/4/14-Site Start 9/5/14-Slab 16/5/14-Frame 21/5/14-Roof 31/5/14-Bricks 6/6/14-Plaster 14/6/14-Fixing 19/7/14 -Flooring 8/8/14 - Keys http://newnestinmelbourne.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1853Sep 04, 2014 4:36 pm impish73 So upset... Did anyone else get this the day before they went to construction? Hi Impish, It was me that got stung with the price protection fee. Ours was around $700. Believe me, I tried so hard to convince them to waive it. I sent an email to the ceo but it was our sales guy's mgr who rang me. I basically had a little whinge but in the end I just gave in. Let me know how you go. I told the sales guy that he mislead us to get us to sign and we were quite willing to forgo the deposit we paid and go with another builder. It didn't take long until he remembered what he had said to us and said not to worry about the extra fee. So all good now. We have been passed to construction and they will be onsite on Wednesday - Yay! Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1855Sep 05, 2014 10:06 pm Excellent news Impish!! Blog: http://dandesbuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1856Sep 05, 2014 10:08 pm Went and checked on our house today, they have done all the rough in's and the bricks have started to be laid. I was shocked to find out they are using a dark sand when we asked for the lightest grey possible to suit our dark bricks. After a bunch of calls it seems the hopeless woman wrote down the wrong colour and we are stuck with something that is wrong and was going to be a feature of the house. Really starting to regret going with them as there is a power point in the wrong spot as well. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1857Sep 06, 2014 2:24 am Welcome MandyDiv! That's good news Impish. Takes kahunas! Apparition - Maybe it will look a bit better when it dries? Don't despair - the PowerPoint can be moved. It just gets overwhelming sometimes. Speaking of overwhelming - MUD!!! I'm OCD and I believe it was someone's duty of care to forewarn me - there is mus everywhere! The removalists track it in, my car tyres leave mud tracks right up my driveway. I still don't have a fence on one side so the dogs go out to pee on a leash - and even so, there's mud! It wouldn't be so bad if we were able to use a mop & bucket, but this sprayer and microfibre mop aren't going to cut it. Has anybody tried mopping with normal floor cleaner? Never thought that would feel like such a sin! 19.03.14 - Land Settlement 15.04.14 - Building Permit 28.04.14 - Earthworks 14.05.14 - Slab Stage 20.05.14 - Frame Stage 11.06.14 - Lock Up Stage 03.07.14 - Fix Stage 15.08.14 - New Home Presentation Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1858Sep 06, 2014 7:03 am Hey GG. I hear ya! Mud, mud and more mud! I have tried soooooo many floor cleaners, mops and old remedies. I have decided that next time around I am going with different flooring. We have had 3 months of trial and error when it comes to these floors and at the beginning, the only way to get rid of the "dust look" was to buy some microfibre cloths and get down on my knees and clean the floor by wringing the cloth out in a bucket of water, cleaning an area and then repeating with clean water over and over! Once that was done it was much better but there is still a massive issue of streaking so as much as I hate to say- I'm still on the hunt for the perfect solution because at the moment nothing beats doing it by hand with the microfibre cloths and a spray of floor cleaner. I have tried every mop from bunnings suited for laminate- save your money there. I have 11 mops in my collection. If you find anything that works- please let me know!
