Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1881Sep 29, 2014 8:15 am Good morning everyone - I have a bit of a silly question, but I want to make sure I understand something. When we hooked up our phone line with Telstra, we got a handset that is normally connected to the T hub. It is my understanding that it works via WIFI. Our regular cordless phone is not working. Hubby says that it's because we've got NBN so you can't use normal phones with that. I call bulldust. So before I call Telstra/Homebuyers to report a fault, I would like to know: Do normal cordless phones work with NBN? Thanks in advance & have a super week! 19.03.14 - Land Settlement 15.04.14 - Building Permit 28.04.14 - Earthworks 14.05.14 - Slab Stage 20.05.14 - Frame Stage 11.06.14 - Lock Up Stage 03.07.14 - Fix Stage 15.08.14 - New Home Presentation Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1882Oct 01, 2014 8:00 pm Pooks and Ruby - I think you may have used the same fencer. Have you had any troubles? Not happy Jan. First off, he just did a questionable job on the last three panels. It's like there were two different guys doing the work. The neighbour and I aren't paying until the last three panels are replaced. The fence isn't even 1800mm. Just bad. Yay! Things are going so quick! Land settled at the end of June and construction started in August! With slab finished at the end of August and we are at lock up already. Looks like they will be finished at the November. So they said we should be in by December! Perfect timing, gives us the holidays to moving, but don't think I'll be getting much of a holiday with all the landscaping that needs to be done. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1891Oct 15, 2014 8:03 am congrats box! moving nice speed bkoolrocks our front has completely sunk. Our house sits high and the yard did slope down when we moved in- hbc did our front landscaping. They obviously didn't compact any of the front. It now goes up n down and is completely wonky!!!! such a waste of $3000 we are ripping the whole lot up and starting from scratch over the xmas holidays. Hey Pooks, how is your house going? Just 2 plaster fix ups needed and a few paint touch ups. I am not happy with the landscape but we don't really care much since like everyone, we'll just do it ourselves. Have sent payment advise and insurance cert but believe it or not, we are not that in a hurry to get keys! Hubby can only go on leave week after next. Still have a lot of things to finalise/organise eg fence, nbn etc. Btw, did any of you get flood cover? I know we must be stupid but we excluded it in ours. We checked the flood map and we are not in yet. Oh well, we just hope everything works out well. My fence is fixed, but I'm not happy with the quality of the workmanship. Considering how long it took to do, I'm just happy it's up. I've tried to temp fence off a section of our back yard and seed it... I've had a delivery of gypsum (to break up the clay) and top soil which I've spread, yet I've done something wrong. It's been nearly two weeks and nothing. As a matter of fact, I've got more growing on the other side of the fence. Does Council plant the lawn on the nature strip or is that me? Can I plant things other than grass? Like ... Mondo ... and interesting stuff that I don't have to mow? Other than that, I'm feeling at home and I'm overall very happy. I think HBC should cease using this laminate flooring immediately, though. Absolutely ridiculous to have a floor that you can't mop - especially in a new estate. I'll just be contacting HBC one last time (hopefully), as I've tried to test the manual pull on the garage door and the red handle came off, so I still have no idea if that works. And also, when I turn on the tap for the hose in the back of the house, I get a terrible noise (as if there is air in the pipes) that doesn't stop no matter how long I've used the hose for. Good luck with the move Chylatte. Terrible to hear about your landscaping, Ruby. And BKoolrocks, I just don't know what to say. That's awful. Great news, Box! One word of advice? BRACE! Cheers, Mark Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1900Oct 29, 2014 11:35 am hi everyone!!!! we had the HBC maintenance man in this week! as our daughters bedroom door was stuck and we had to get her through the window- an adventure for the day!!! he was great! all handles in house were changed to new ones - as we had sticky handles. funny I was told to use crc by office lady yet he says the should have been replaced straight away as they are faulty. So while he was there I got him to look at my driveway as the office lady was not interested and kept insisting it cant be coming off, and there must be mortar or something on the driveway. and well and behold it is coming off haha!!! I am not crazy its coming off that bad that he could just scratch it off with his keys. so our driveway is being sent back to the construction team. So that's some good news as well. I kept him busy while he was over he has siliconed up my leaky windows and called the flooring company to fix the runner they placed by my sliding door as it has lifted. so need his direct number, so I can bypass the office chicks Site Start 11/3/14 Slab Pour 2/4/14 Framing Complete 8/4/14 Lock Up 1/5/14 Fixing Stage Complete 14/5/14 New Home Presentation 20/6/14 Handover 2/7/14 blog: http://firsthomebuilding.blogspot.com.au/ I havent, and i havent looked to much into it, but on face value its not the saviour its trying to make out to be.
