Re: Internal door handles 5Apr 18, 2013 10:44 am I think it really depends on the design of the handles, some look nicer in chrome, some nicer in satin finish. For me personally I went with the bright chrome, In my view it looks cleaner & fresher, but that's my opinion .... Re: Internal door handles 6Apr 18, 2013 11:28 am I've gone with brushed metal. Personally, I like the look better. Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. Settlement: 29/05. Site start: 18/10. Re: Internal door handles 8Apr 18, 2013 12:02 pm We got stainless steel handles they look fabulous!!!! Whoops forgot to say why we picked these. Ultimately the man selling the handles explained to me that handles that were only plated would wear over time and whereas the stainless steel would not. I was convinced also we have handles in our current house that the top colour has worn off to reveal the metal underneath. Re: Internal door handles 9Apr 18, 2013 2:01 pm I agree with the coating, in my current house, we went for gold handles and the coating is coming off... Also have shiny handles in current place.. Just landscaping and driveway to go! Re: Internal door handles 10Apr 18, 2013 3:17 pm We owner built and installed our front door handle before we had bought any of our internal handles. We bought bright chrome because I thought it looked nicer. It gets so dirty with smudgy finger prints and never looks nice or clean. After living with it for a few months I decided to go with satin chrome for all our internal door handles. I personally like the look of bright chrome better but at least these ones always look nice and clean. Our owner-builder journey - viewtopic.php?f=38&t=45187 Re: Internal door handles 11Apr 18, 2013 3:25 pm Polished chrome 4 shiz - matches my grillz G! Seriously though, if you do choose polished chrome, make sure the fittings are good quality. I've seen some 'cheaper' options flake over time. And as others have pointed out, polished chrome attracts fingerprints - which really is quite bad considering you handle handles with your fingers Re: Internal door handles 14Apr 22, 2013 3:30 pm Satin for me also. Much prefer the look anyway plus as others have already mentioned they don't look as grubby as polished chrome does with any use. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Internal door handles 15Apr 22, 2013 8:16 pm I got bright chrome. I love them, they look fantastic. They really set off the doors. I always handle them with wet or greasy fingers and they still look fine. But I've only lived here a week. I haven't actually seen satin chrome handles. I chose bright ones coz I wanted a traditional look and I feel like the satin chrome is a more modern look.
