When we signed our contract with fairmont we received a "promotion of the month" which was a Bonaire ducted evaporative cooling system (7 outlet, SBM 65). Problem is i'm assuming its just cooling and no heating(not being a reverse cycle unit). We are now stuck as to wether to scrap this unit and get reverse cycle or find a different heating alternative, preferably to heat every room in the house. Can anyone recommend any thoughts/ideas/experiences?? feeling like we've overlooked this part of the build so far.... Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 36May 22, 2013 10:36 pm Perhaps check your Fairmont quote again because they can also do ducted gas heating and may have included it. I think it is the cheapest option for running, to have the ducted evaporative and ducted gas heating. My parents put that combination in their house 2 years ago, and it has been very economical, and I have it being done by Fairmont on my build. The ducted gas system sounds great and cheap to run, will definitely look into that more too! Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 38May 22, 2013 11:17 pm When we signed in March we got a reverse cycle unit thrown in free. The system is worth about 12. Grand. When did you sign? Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 39May 22, 2013 11:50 pm We got our reverse cycle unit thrown in free too by Fairmonts... I was told at the time if i wanted to do it after handover they would credit us 12k, I priced the same model at a manix store and it came back just a bit over 17k so we stayed with them doing it... We signed around August last year. Re: First Home builders with Fairmont Homes 40May 23, 2013 12:40 am I am not sure if you would be able to change it now but we signed at the same time as the deal with the free aircon was running and they credited us the cost of that and switched it to reverse cycle and it cost next to nothing in comparison to what it would cost to put reverse cycle in.
