Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 21, 2013 3:20 am Hello all
I am just about to sign up with Lorimer Homes in WA. I am only at the beginning stages and will be signing their PCQ (pre construction quotation) on Monday. Was just wondering if anyone had any suggested changes on the house plans or things that I may want to consider from your experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as making changes later on will cost me. I would change the upstairs toilet to a powder room as if someone is having a bath/shower there is no way for them to wash their hands. Master bedroom large widows facing west which is going to be hot in the summer maybe put them on the south side or use low E Glass. Re: First Home Building - Lorimer Homes - WA 3Apr 21, 2013 9:00 am Looks good overall. I like a little more natural light in bathrooms than this plan. It seems like there is plenty of light for WIRs (maybe wasted?). I look forward to following your progress. What plan is this? http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: First Home Building - Lorimer Homes - WA 4Apr 21, 2013 11:38 am Thanks for your replies. Lourance I would change the upstairs toilet to a powder room as if someone is having a bath/shower there is no way for them to wash their hands. I see what you mean. Perhaps I should get one of these toilets they have in Japan with the sink on the toilet. Not sure if I can find them in Australia though. There isn't a lot of natural light now that I look at it in the bathrooms. Perhaps I should increase the window sizes? This was the Metropolitan plan from Lorimer but with some adjustments. http://www.lorimerhomes.com.au/pages/5750 Re: First Home Building - Lorimer Homes - WA 5Apr 21, 2013 11:53 am If anyone is interested I tried my hand at creating a 3D render of the floor plan.

There are also some very small vanity units available. Re: natural light. I wonder if they could swap around WIR and bathroom locations to allow more light to bathrooms. It also seems strange to have hall to WIR on exterior wall, instead of bathroom. No harm in asking if they can be altered. Maybe they've done that before. http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: First Home Building - Lorimer Homes - WA 7Apr 21, 2013 1:43 pm Liano Wall basin is narrow one so great for smaller spaces Re: First Home Building - Lorimer Homes - WA 8Apr 21, 2013 3:07 pm I am thinking of just connecting the toilet to the bathroom upstairs. I personally don't see the point of having it separate (unless there is a sink) since you know your going to have to go to the bathroom to wash up afterwards.
