Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 961Nov 17, 2013 6:24 pm Firstly your house is beuatiful and i love the stools with your kitchen But yes i would be annoyed, ive been finding little bits pieces like that too (then some major like flooding pipes and appliances not working). I felt quite dark yesterday too, bit upset too. It will be worth it but my gosh its frustrating! I here you on the cleaning. I cleaned yesterday and today you could barely tell. Think ill be waiting til we bout move in to clean Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 962Nov 17, 2013 6:52 pm House stunning ! Being overly pickey, I don't think so. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 963Nov 17, 2013 7:08 pm Certainly not an over reaction. You've paid a fortune to get a home that you can be proud of. The least the builders can do is provide quality workmanship. Everyone needs to make sure they don't accept inferior quality work and eventually these builders ( and not just Aveling but the whole rotten lot of them), who seem to expect they can take your money and give you second class service, may get the message. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 964Nov 18, 2013 12:43 am Hi momomo, agree with all, your house is stunning. With regards to the overall finish, you just get to a point where you have to let some things go or it will do your head in. Also I'm still cleaning after almost 4 months momomo, ours was exactly like yours. On occasion we still bring in white footprints from the garage too. How that's even possible after pressure cleaning it several times and everything now established is just bamboozling. In regards to all your problem pics, it's like déjà vue. Please don't let it upset you. It will all be a distant memory soon. Get the worst bits seen to now and worry about the rest at the 6 month maintenance just to give yourself some 'healing' time in the meantime. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 965Nov 18, 2013 1:33 am Your house is beautiful. I too have found the same issue and think the lack of cleanliness at handover is to disguise issues I have scratched stone bench tops, shower, bath, glass splashback , the window behind the cooktop, chipped bench in laundry, bits of tile missing from back of toilet, nearly every door is rough and it looks like sand in underneath, it is so bumpy. Bottom of doors are rough and look terrible. The thing I hate the most is my black grout. At handover it looked dirty with a bit of white coming through, when I wipe it with a cloth it turns back to black, once dry, goes back to white. It's called efflorescence, at least I think that's the issue, it looks terrible with my dark grey tiles. It has something to do with excess water being used when making the grout. Oh I have tiling glue stuck on my tiles that won't come off. I'm really upset by all this, you wouldn't by a new car scratched or damaged, why should our houses be any different. Especially for items that we paid extra to upgrade, to find them already damaged is upsetting. Maybe if we all emailed Aveling with these issues something would be done. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 966Nov 18, 2013 3:01 am Congrats on the Keys momomo your house looks beautiful & stunning! Your not picky......I would be annoyed & pi$$ed off about it too, with what it costs to build everything should be perfect new & clean! We have / had the exact same monkeys - doors, grout, scratching etc. I can't say that I have experienced this level before with previous builts. I wonder if the builder ever reads H1. Have to say though, I don't know if it's luck (geez please don't jinx me here) or good workmanship or the fact that the land around us has had more than 5 years to settle, but we have absolutely no cornice or walls cracks. Argh, I reckon I've ruined it now. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 968Nov 18, 2013 10:24 am Looks amazing Feel so sorry for you, i just went through all of that too and its horrible. Even sitting in my lounge room i notice things from a distance and it annoys me every time.. i know it’s there! I’m writing a big list for the maintenance. As far as I’m concerned i paid for everything to be brand new and look brand new. If i were you id be complaining about everything! Good luck, you have a wonderful home Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 969Nov 18, 2013 11:58 pm Serialbuilder 3munkeys Your house is beautiful. Argh, I reckon I've ruined it now. Lucky you serialbuild, I've got cracks in the corner of my portico ceiling, the bulkhead in my bedroom uneven, you can see the outline of nail heads on my ceiling about 10 of them. My flooring is uneven due to the slab not being even. I haven't even moved in yet but I'm noticing all these issues. The painter said the quality of the build was good, I would hate to see bad if this is good. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 970Nov 20, 2013 9:47 am House is looking stunning, from the very few pics you sent. Btw your tv wall photo makes your house look a bit lop sided . I am with Sammi about getting professional cleaners in before handover. Its a shame you didn't notice all those things at your PCI. My rangehood still hasn't been replaced, and it was noted at PCI on the 10th of last month. Ongoing battle. Look forward to the tour Simomo Re: Simone and Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling 971Nov 21, 2013 10:57 am momomo OOOoops, looks like in a way we've been luckier than some Still, the time from prestart to slab is pretty lame, yeah? I've had the same experience. Signup in March and Slab down November! I'm hoping the build itself goes much quicker. Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 972Jan 05, 2014 7:12 pm Hi all Sorry I haven't posted for a while - it's been a whirlwind since we moved in (both Daughters had birthdays, oldest graduated year 12 and got her license - eep! - oldest had her ball, Christmas, New Year's, unpacking, etc.... ). We've reached the stage now where we're landscaped, fully fenced, solar paneled, mostly unpacked, fully light-ed, etc. I've taken some pics which i'll upload asap as I know how everyone likes the finished product! Happy New Year to you all, by the way! Sounds like you have been enjoying your new home Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 976Jan 06, 2014 12:17 am Aceman, you are absolutely more than welcome anytime I see lots of boys (sans shirts) digging and whatnot in your front yard, and a lovely pile'o'stone that looks very promising. Isn't it exciting having landscaping done?! Looking forward to photos for now Re: Sim & Gwyn's Baldivis Build with Aveling - Keys :) 978Jan 24, 2014 2:57 am Some pics of the house....sorry for the grainy quality, taken with iphone. I'll have to take some more current photos, as these are of the first few weeks after moving in (circa late November) - and the place looks a bit more finished off now.... The rooms are still acting as storage for our as-yet-not-fully-unpacked house, and the yard - though turfed - is not fully landscaped yet so I'll hold of on pics off that. The al fresco is gorgeous when all clean and dressed up, but due to the FREAKISH AMOUNT OF FRICKING DUST in our little estate, the outdoor furniture spends most of it's time covered in inch thick dirt and I keep forgetting to photograph it when it's all lovely and clean! I call our estate 'Dubai, Baldivis'.
