Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 20, 2013 12:10 am Hi, I have got the contract signing on Monday and now stuck in the decision of getting the evaporative cooling before build or after. Builder is providing the Brivis P44 for $5890, thats way too expensive. I was thinking of getting the Breezair later after the build as they wont allow other tradies to come before handover and do some work. Now my concern is that some people I know did it after the build but installers cracked some tiles and they had leakage problem and water on plaster. I wont like that to happen to my new house after I have just moved in even the installers cover for the damage. Please shed some light how safe is it to get evaporative cooling done after build and taking some tiles of and then putting the ducts in? Thanks Singh Re: Evaporative cooling after the build 2Apr 20, 2013 1:40 am We had it installed no issues. A licensed installer should have insurance to cover any major damage. When they are tilling your home there are always tiles left over, Just ask the roof tillers to put the extras aside then grab them when they are done. Re: Evaporative cooling after the build 4Apr 20, 2013 8:25 am You have to make sure that you have enough space between roof trusses for your unit. On my pre purchase inspections I sometimes find cut or damaged trusses or rafters where air conditioning was retro fitted. Which brand evap cooling did you choose for your house and I just got quote from cold flow in springvale vic for $4900 with electrical and plumbing already done by builder. Is that right price? Thanks Re: Evaporative cooling after the build 6Apr 20, 2013 12:13 pm We checkout a lot of brands went to display home to hear them operate and ended up going with a Coolbreeze system QAD195 13kw with 8 outlets (195 sq.m area). Total cost $4360.00 installed (includes them doing plumbing and electricals). 2 main reasons where it runs nice a quite and come with a 10 year Warranty including labour. http://www.plumheatcool.com.au Not sure if they do Springvale. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17590 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37140 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5152 |
