Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 341Oct 23, 2013 4:38 pm I don't know how it's done--I think they sub-contract the various stages. Being high-volume and well experienced, their production schedules are probably finely tuned. I do worry that quality might have been sacrificed for speed, but so far, with our untrained eyes, we're pretty happy, yes.
Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 342Oct 28, 2013 9:01 pm DavCar13- you mentioned that you could see the Stage I am building in from your back yard. We live quite a way away now, and i'm wondering if you could see any more progress. We rarely get to go up there, and i dont want to call them, as I dont think they appreciate calls like that! I greatl apprciate your help DavCar 13 Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 343Oct 29, 2013 8:38 pm captainbecks DavCar13- you mentioned that you could see the Stage I am building in from your back yard. All of the machinery has been moved to a different spot and i am pretty sure all the roads have been done as I saw cars driving on them this arvo. I remember when our stage seemed complete it felt like it took ages for houses to start. keep ringing and hassling Hickies I would that is what they are there for! Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 344Dec 12, 2013 6:12 pm Hi davcar13, It's been a while since I last posted. We have our settlement date now (next week) and I'm wondering what sort of timescale we can look at now. How long from your settlement date did it take for complete house construction? Thank you Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 345Dec 19, 2013 8:42 am Hi Captainbecks Sorry for the late reply it has been a while since i checked. congrats on settlement that is exciting, i have noticed that they have started building over on your side the first slab went down the other day. I looked back over our build it took almost exactly 4 months. our slab was poured on May 4 and we had keys on the 30th of August. ours took a bit longer than some of the smaller ones on our street, our neighbours house was started 5 weeks after ours and they moved in before us so I guess it can vary. If you want to know anything along the way just let me know I will try to check this page more regularly Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 346Dec 21, 2013 9:31 pm Thanks davcar. Thats good to hear that it doesnt take too long. Its looking really good up there now! Do you happen to know anyone who does driveways/concreting? Can you recommend anyone? Thanks again Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 347Dec 23, 2013 7:58 pm We used Sam from South Aussie Concrete and went for the exposed aggregate concrete for our driveway. I thought we were being different because no one else in our street had it, but after he did ours he ended up doing another 3 or 4 on our street. His prices were really good I can PM you his phone number if you want it Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 348Dec 23, 2013 11:02 pm Yeah that would be great-thank you. Re: Hickinbotham "Coast Estate" Seaford Rise 349Jul 04, 2015 11:36 am Hi Everyone, I know this thread is super old but I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all. My partner and I decided to build our family home in the last stage of the same Coast estate. We put our deposit down in December 2014 and we just had our slab poured last week (June) If it wasn't for this post we would have been going in blind. I have been silently lurking and going over and over this post since December to ensure i'm doing everything right and there have been so many helpful tips I have taken on board. Im sure im not the only one that has used this forum as a guide, but i just wanted to let you all know that you've helped us substantially with our house journey. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. TA!
