Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 9Apr 11, 2013 3:51 pm Another vote for mirrors. Opens up the room and saves you putting up extra mirrors for those who love to check whether their butt looks big in that or not. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 10Apr 11, 2013 3:54 pm We are having glass for our linen. We don't have wardeobes in our minor bedrooms. It was standard with our builder to pick between glass, vinyl or mirror finish. Glass came in black or a greenish blue colour. If you don't want the mirror I would go the glass over vinyl? Or go one mirror and one non-mirror Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 11Apr 11, 2013 4:57 pm For us, it was about $250 to upgrade one wardrobe from vinyl to mirrors, so we went with the standard vinyl. However, we're planning on DIY our own mirrors after handover; you can buy massive mirrors and special mirror glue to attach them to the wardrobe doors. Much cheaper. We are actually doing alot of DIY after handover as my fiance is a carpenter who is also a jack of all trades with a few different trades for friends and brothers, so anything we can get away with doing ourselves we will. Mirror doors it is! Thanks everyone Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 13Apr 11, 2013 5:49 pm We had the option of either so we did both. One door vinyl and one door mirror Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 15Apr 11, 2013 9:05 pm I didnt realise that wardrobes came in vinyl. I work for a builder and one day when I saw the vinyl doors I nearly died of shock and told him off for using them. The rental house that we are living in has one door mirror and one door vinyl and I would not have the vinyl, I think it looks much better all glass. Yeah, in a perfect world that's how much they'd charge for it, but not Plantat!on (for us anyway). Unfortunately did not think it would go in our two bedrooms so have chosen white instead. You will just need glazing bead (most glass manufacturers should be able to supply this). In my opinion, it's also important to buy mirrors with safety (vinyl) backing. Re: Mirror or vinyl sliding wardrobe doors? 20Apr 16, 2013 10:35 pm I used to work at a wardrobe-s/screen mfr and mirrors weren't too much more than vinyl. The frames do come apart and the beading can be reused. But after the hassles of having a mirror cut to size, transporting it and taking the door apart and putting it all back together (using a rubber mallet)... you're only really saving on the aluminium frame cost anyway.
