Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 361Sep 16, 2013 3:59 pm im building with Metricon. there was a couple things that i thought they should have picked up on such as eves, amount of sufficient rendering. in there defense the things they missed out on were thrown in free of charge. i will also take this opportunity to let people know that stage 7 and 8 are no longer fire prone areas. so no need to pay the extra $$$ for bal 12.5. Haha ... bit late for us I'm afraid. We've already shelled out for our BAL. Hope it all pans out with Metricon. Getting a site start is probably the most frustrating bit. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 363Sep 16, 2013 4:07 pm Aston Boy d4mmo i will also take this opportunity to let people know that stage 7 and 8 are no longer fire prone areas. so no need to pay the extra $$$ for bal 12.5. Haha ... bit late for us I'm afraid. We've already shelled out for our BAL. Hope it all pans out with Metricon. Getting a site start is probably the most frustrating bit. dont worry its not all bad, you get some decent stuff included with Bal 12.5 (flyscreens, upgraded windows, extra insulation etc.) cheers for the help. ill post again when i have an update. Kind regards. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 364Sep 16, 2013 9:33 pm That hurts with the bushfire! The upgrades are good, but the $$$ is good too! In regards to the landscaping, I've had a look at some houses which have had it done. For someone who isn't a green thumb I think it looks okay. I'm sure what ever the landscaper does there will be opportunities to upgrade ($$$) there too! Our peet approval was about 4 weeks I think. Peet were very efficient and organised at answering our questions, they told us what was knocked back our first time, dates documents were received and sent off. They always stuck to their 1 week review time. Our builder on the other hand took longer making the changes, and didnt tell us what the changes were until they had already done them. Consider yourself lucky metricon didn't charge you for these changes, I think most builders wouldn't be that nice. Once the approval came through from peet our builder was very organised in getting the council permit, they had it there ready to go and it came through the same day Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 365Sep 17, 2013 10:25 am Welcome D4mmo! Friends of mine built in Mernda and when they signed on the dotted line they were in a fire prone area. Part way through the build they found out they were no longer in the danger zone. I'm sensing a theme here - its a scam! Don't understand how it could change so frequently... Anyway.. my kitchen got installed this week so I'm happy Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 367Sep 17, 2013 7:15 pm Hey I just beat the rude word police. - I love it Congrats Tracey, I'm a tad jealous right now. We hope for slab tomorrow- I hear weather had been bad. We been a perfect 33 here each day, going to lap it up while I can Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 368Sep 17, 2013 8:26 pm We have our roof on!! Oh our floors are so muddy and yuck! Bad weather! Hey sam had a look at your block too. It looks ready to go as soon as the weather improves! Hopefully soon Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 370Sep 17, 2013 8:53 pm Thanks guys, feels like we have a lil family community going on don't we. I'm thinking when were all moved in we will have to have like a rolling dinner or drinks to check out everyone's pride and joy, since we all been together since conception :p Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 372Sep 18, 2013 8:42 pm Aston Boy Most definitely Sam and congrats ... on your slab. Looks like the rain held off for you !! Little birdy told me it's been poured. Nawww thanks so much AB, so exciting to hear!!!!! I cant wait to be down there to see the rest of the house come together!!! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 373Sep 19, 2013 4:18 pm Well we've got some great news. Met with our S/S today (great bloke and highly thorough) and our handover date is slated for October 25th. Scary part here is that we sold our old house (of 18 years) on October 25th last year !! Eerie. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 374Sep 19, 2013 4:30 pm Oh my! how soon is that! Great news for you and your family AB! Congratulations, it was obviously meant to be How exciting! Hopefully we won't be too long after you Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 375Sep 19, 2013 4:35 pm Yeah it's scary to think we were looking at an empty bit of dirt in July ES... Contrary to what you read by others I have nothing but praise for Henley who have been very professional and kept us informed all the time. Any concerns/issues have been rectified straight away. By our admin and S/S Given what our S/S was telling us regarding the amount of scrutiny Henley put on the build and add to that the fact our bank have to inspect the build at various stages we're probably not even bothering to go to the needless expense of a building inspector I'd say the stage your at ES should have you guys in sometime in late November ?? Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 376Sep 19, 2013 4:43 pm I was thinking about that too, I remember worrying about the titles coming in! Now you are already to move in! I think we might just have a handover inspection to make me feel better. Late november would be absolutely amazing! I will even be happy with january but the earlier the better! We will have to have a tour when you're in! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 378Sep 19, 2013 9:56 pm Far our AB, 25th October that's like just around the corner, you guys must be super excited!!! I'm hoping we are in by Chrissy but I really don't mind, will be living with my mum rent free yay!! But would love to have our own space! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 379Sep 19, 2013 10:22 pm We're in the same boat as you sam. We move out of our rental property at the of October so would love our own space too! But can't complain with being rent free! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 380Sep 20, 2013 10:21 am Wow AB 25th of Oct! That is amazing, congrats. Not far away at all. Based on our history of following you along I would expect we would be a couple of weeks behind you. Although we have hit a snag.. found a leak in our ensuite. I guess that's one bonus of the terrible weather we have had lately, you get to check out how water proof the house is! I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 46326 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
