Hey guys
I wish I could be posting a happier topic but I have run in to a VERY hairy situation and was hoping someone could help me out. I also hope this can serve as a cautionary tale.
When looking at land, we were told of a 5% builder's deposit promotion where the land development company would pay your home builder the deposit if you purchase land and sign with the builder within 90 days of depositing on the land.
So I'm going my merry way , thinking I'm getting a 5% discount off the base price of my home. A SA for my builder even jotted some figures down for me to give me an idea of the savings. We're talking around 10,000.
Anyhow, in order to meet the 90 day contract signing requirement, my builder has been wonderful and has fast tracked the process so that everything gets done in time.
The initial deposit (1000) was waived as per the promo by my SA. I was also advised that I would make my first payment around site start instead of at the stages before as per usual.
Now today I'm at my tender appointment and we're nearing the end and the woman helping me asks for the $2,000 payment. I thought....WHAT? And explained to her but she didn't seem to understand.....and then I emailed the lady in charge of the land sales office I purchased from and she told me the initial 1,000 that my SA waived WAS the builders deposit!
I am so super confused right now, cause different people are now telling me different things. And on top of that I feel really angry, like I was purposefully deceived ( l.ied to my face). Plus what is the point exactly of rushing around and expediting the process just to save $1,000?? I mean 1000 is nothing to sniff at but it's kind of not worth it at the same time.
So now I don't know what to do. I'm not going to just bend over especially since I've been told so many conflicting things. This is just shady and I am really upset!
