This was also the case for our previous build. If there are major defects identified it may take longer or could be shorter. From the client end, there usually are a couple of days to organise final payment and also to get the bank to conduct the final valuation (if required). Our builder won't hand over the keys until the final payment is received - I won't be making the final payment until I am satisfied with the workmanship.
