Congrats on bricks being delivered! We've been living in Settlers since we built nearly 6 years ago, and we're now building in Parkland Heights (not quite slab down yet, but hopefully in next week or so). Baldivis is a great little area. When we first moved in it was really quiet and small, and the shops barely ever had anybody there. Now it's a booming little metropolis - and I can't even get a park at the shops most days! I've never experienced any crime - so I think you may have been a little misinformed. I'm sure there are break-ins occasionally, but that's Perth-wide (world-wide even). There are a lot of hoons, but that can really be explained by the massive amount of teens and young adults here as it's a very family-oriented suburb. Boys will be boys! Looking forward to following your build progress - good luck! I feel for you as I've been there myself recently. Hopefully it all goes smoothly from here on in, and you get satisfactorily reassured before you leave to go away, so you don't have to worry.. We signed with our builder in early November and didn't get slab down til end of May, and now we've only just had brickies start (actually, they've been there 3 weeks off and on and we still only have about 1/3 of the bricks done). It's so sllloooooowwww! Very frustrating, with many builders I think. If anybody had have told me that, after buying land last August and signing with our builder in November - we might not be in by Christmas 2013, I would have scoffed at the suggestion.....now it's my reality It's good to know you're not alone sometimes Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64272 Purchased land August '12 Titles Jan 27 '13 Prestart - Jan '13 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 30Jul 26, 2013 3:47 pm hey guys, so im back from being overseas! when we left, we still didnt have roof cover!! ugg! we were away for 3 weeks, and when we returned we had roof, ceilings, glazing, plaster and everything done! very shocked. they even fixed their mistake and put our waste pipe for the bar in the slab where it was supposed to be. that was monday when we checked the house. we only just received the roof cover claim on wednesday so we were very shocked. when i visited the house yesterday we are at lock up and all internal doors and WIR/BIR shelfs are done! so its good to see it finally getting somewhere! i am concerned tho because when we were at the house on tuesday it looked like one of the walls were not straight.... yep...we have a bulkhead in the doorway of the theatre, and the wall wasnt flush with the bulkhead. so hopefully they dont try and get away with thinking thats okay... heres some random photos from the last month Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 31Jul 26, 2013 5:43 pm OMG! Looking GREAT! I can't believe all that progress in just 3 weeks, how fantastic is that? Shame about the wall, but no, they can't leave it like that. I'm sure when you point it out to them they'll rectify it. Superb pics, keep 'em coming! How did you do in your comp? Think about making a list of things to bring up at your PCI now.... dont be afraid to be as picky as you want. Your putting your hard earned dollars into this house ,so IMO it has to be close to perfect at the end Hope you had a successful comp too Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 34Aug 01, 2013 11:47 am Thanks everyone! yeah we were happy to see some bloody progress!! about time! actually visited the house on tuesday and they were installing all the cupboards, they already painted the ceilings and doors, and were getting ready to lay the garage cement. i was shocked. there were 3 different type of tradies working on the house so i guess they are atleast trying to catch up!! so thats something i guess! I'm the type of person who is like, ohh its okay, and i often dont like making a fuss if things arent done correctly, so im glad you guys think i shouldnt let them get away with anything, maybe that will give me the confidence to actually speak up this time! oh and charlie23, dont even get me started on the PS lady!!!!!!!!! not too keen to put what road im on but we are just off smirk in the avalon estate. and belle22, thanks for the idea of starting to get a list together now for PCI because there are some power points they covered with plaster and havent cut back out again too! do you think that is something i should bring up with them now? or wait til PCI? i think im going to spend some dosh and get an inspector in, just to make sure i dont miss anything! this is our first house so we really have no idea what we are doing! and i had a very successful comp! thanks guys if you are ever in Russia i strongly recommend you spend a few days in Kazan, it was amazing there! ill gets some photos up soon title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 35Aug 01, 2013 8:52 pm For the power points we had about half that were covered with the white set and the electricians just cleared them out when they finished of the wiring and put the plates on. Glad to hear you are getting progress, I'm similar in that I don't like to make a fuss but I think sometimes that's all that works. We will be having even the small things written down to be fixed, it's a new house I expect it to be pretty close to perfect! Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 36Aug 01, 2013 9:02 pm Hey Aston, Great to see your house progressing! you must be so excited We just had our slab laid finally and I'm over the moon! Are you using the Ideal Homes Progress Tracker? If so, under the "Roof Cover" stage are some FAQs. One of them is: They plastered over my light switch or power point? The Electrician consults the electrical working drawings of your new homes to complete all the electrical points. Thought this might help answer your query. Keep the photos coming! Cheers, TJ Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 37Aug 02, 2013 4:10 pm yeah TJ and fmac i am aware of that, im only concerned because all the power points have been dug out except for one, and my friend recently had the same thing happen to them, they got to PCI and there were several power points the electrician missed, so now im super paranoid they will miss it! Not that its a big deal, my BF is a sparky. can not wait for the weekend! pretty excited to see how much they've done this week! title: 14/1/13 Site Works: 23/3/13 Slab: 6/4/13 Bricks: 17/5/13 Roof: 6/7/13 Lock up: 25/7/13 PCI: 8/10/13 Handover: 22/10/13 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64026 Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 38Aug 02, 2013 6:54 pm Hi Aston, Yeh I would maybe just shot them an email or phone call in regards to the power points. It may be the standard thing to do, but as you say you can never be too sure, and it won't hurt to get some clarification on it. If they don't do anything, well just add it to the list for your PCI, then they have to fix it! I know I am the exact same too, I hate to make a fuss as well, however it's vital that your happy with the end result ,and as I said your investing all your money into one huge thing, your house, so sorry builders....it's got to be perfect. Can't wait to see some piccys Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 39Aug 04, 2013 12:48 pm Hi Aston, I've just been reading the Ideal Homes Progress Tracker again and have a question for you. When the house reaches "construction lockup" stage, how do you as the owner get access to the inside? Are you given a key as well as the builder? Thanks, TJ Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Baldivis WA 40Aug 04, 2013 12:57 pm Generally once lock up you are locked out unless something is accidently left open or you go when tradie or SS is there Ask for references and speak to them.
