Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2013 9:23 pm Just had paperwork from bank regarding final progress payment and one of the items ING has requested is a Final Council Inspection or Occupancy Certificate! I have never heard of these and in all the homes i have built, never been asked for one. I wonder if it necessary in WA or not. Anyone out there have a clue what it is or any advice? Council Inspection / Occupancy Cert necessary in W 2Apr 04, 2013 11:08 pm I had a similar request as our lender is based in Melbourne and they are asked for a certificate of occupancy before they would release the final payment. I asked my builder about it and they said it not a requirement in WA, I passed that info on to my lender and they seemed satisfied with that as they released the payment. Council Inspection / Occupancy Cert necessary in W 4Apr 04, 2013 11:29 pm Your welcome. My builder also suggested some other contract docs which we get during handover inspection that I could of shown the lender if they weren't satisfied with me simply saying its not a requirement in WA, so maybe just double check with the accounts people of your building company if you need to....Goodluck! Council Inspection / Occupancy Cert necessary in W 5Apr 05, 2013 1:42 pm All good, have been i contact with council and one is not needed in WA...sent that to mortgage co and all is sweeeeet...phew what a relief... Life would be so much easier if all states were uniform OR if the lenders knew what rules apply where and send only the appropriate requirements to stop any near heart attacks!
