Paving done ( however is being redone - the bad weather was not kind as it was not cemented in before the storms started ). Gabions were finished today. Timber bench seating will be added to these. Did you do all this yourself or did you hire a company. Amazing backyard. Cheerio OB! Re: Custom Build in Hills District 188May 17, 2015 4:22 pm 1st_HomeBuyer Dude just one question. Did you do all this yourself or did you hire a company. Amazing backyard. Thanks!!! It's my design, however I got a landscaper to do much of the work. I have a stormwater easement running along the back fence, which means I can't plant trees - hence the pots. This from memory is the order I did it: 1. Bought the trees Mountain Ash for $25 each from the Wholesale Nursery at Annangrove 2. Paid someone to add the screen to the top of the fence. I also had palings added to my side of the fence, since I was looking at the ugly side. 3. Bought the tall white pots on special at Bunnings - they cost $35 each ( fortunately on clearance, marked down from $70 each). There are 15 in total.. I decided to use these since they are less likely to tip over the pots with a narrow / tapered base. 4. Paid someone from Airtasker to paint my fence. The colour is Monument. 5. Drew up a design on paper for what I wanted done and tried to get a number of landscapers to quote. In the end I could only get one quote, because landscapers are so busy! 6. Signed up the landscaper to do the paving, garden beds, gabion benches and put in my watering system. I asked him to set and level some concrete pavers in the garden beds. This is to provide a stable and level base for the pots. 7. Bought all the plants from the same nursery. Around 30-40 plants cost me about $350. The landscaper put them in for me. 8. The pot in the middle is an ultralight pot from masters. I could of probably done it myself, however it would have taken me months and months, I'd have to buy tools that I would no longer use, plus I get a better result by getting a professional. Still some finishing touches to go. That will take me a few weeks to organise. Total cost will be in the $13-14k ballpark by the time it is finished. Will be an easy garden to maintain once it is finished. I had the gravel bed put in at the back of the house as I didn't want timber mulch against the house - too attractive to termites. I also had the gravel bed put in under the clothes line. Just after I bought the trees, we had a really bad bout of hot weather. This and the bad storms knocked them around a bit before the landscaper could get them into the pots. However, our outdoor area (front and back) combined is huge - I think somewhere between 400sqm - 450sqm. We are looking to do something simple. However, our outdoor area (front and back) combined is huge - I think somewhere between 400sqm - 450sqm. My back yard is only about 60sqm so a fairly small job. I am using http://austlandscapes.com.au. I normally use the various quoting websites to obtain a mix of quotes. Did not have much success though - too many landscapers are too busy. I was only able to get one quote! Thanks! I didn't want or need a big backyard so simple to maintain with a bit of pizzaz was my goal. I'm looking forward to spring and the warmer weather for the trees to fill out and the plants to grow. Will look even better. Really great job mate. Cheerio OB! Re: Custom Build in Hills District 199Sep 20, 2015 10:57 pm I'm inspired reading your thread maximus. You've got really good choices and looks like a well thought out plan. Also, I admired how you transformed a small backyard into a beautiful, private sanctuary. Can I ask you one question (I know..) Looking at your timber screens, I realized this might be something I may want. Did you have to get permission to install those timber screens onto your side of the fence (I mean because you and your neighbor own the fence?) Who did this for you? OK, two questions. Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 13637 I ended up going with 'Andrew Belic Construction Co.' https://www.instagram.com/andrewbelicconstruction/ 2 59659 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
