Re: Custom Build in Hills District - Major Progress! 24Sep 07, 2013 12:18 am Design is bespoke for my block. The builder started by giving me 4 or 5 plans for similar houses to what I was looking for. Their designer then did a pre-plan based on a detailed design brief I wrote. This was a 10-15 page document in which I listed features / attributes I wanted in the design, the inclusions and to guide the specification I wanted priced. Once they gave me the pre-plan, I then copied it into Sweet Home 3D and played with the layout to make it suit me needs. After several more iterations with the designer I settled on a final plan. Survey pegs - well - more correctly pegs to mark the survey pegs! Presumably the site will be cleared and excavations for footings / piers will commence soon. Another photo to show the block before any real work starts. Locations of taps, gas points, niches. Selection of locks, door furniture, tapware, doors. Reviewing / double-checking colours. Hopeful that construction will start next week. Whilst I was there, builder was teeing up the concreter for the slab. These were either done this morning or yesterday afternoon. Looks like too much earth to spread around the site. Maybe it can be spread at the edges of the slab??? Hopefully I won't cop some extra charges for removal of fill. Trenches also haven't been dug for drains, etc. Opinions? What do you think I may be charged? I could lie down on it .. if that was considered acceptable haha On the plans we're working out, we have a Gallery walkway from the kitchen bench to the alfresco exit, so couldn't really make it any wider than 1 metre. But yours... wow Going to keep an eye out of this thread, I love seeing pictures --- Re: Custom in Hills District - Slab! 37Sep 28, 2013 11:44 am Glad you like my kitchen! I thought about a scullery, but my WIP is a little too cramped for that. Not having one is a good motivation to do the dishes. I'll rarely use my dishwasher. Starting to get a sense of scale now that the slab is curing. The area to the right of the porch is a living room (actually a HT). I guess this is the earth point for the electrical junction box.
