Wisdom want to charge us for just tacking on the skirting boards. We need them just tacked on so that they can be removed by our flooring company and reattached after the floors are laid. We find this charge illogical as the cost of supplying and installing the skirting boards is included in the base price of the house, and just tacking them on requires less labor than fully installing them, so surely Wisdom would be saving on costs. Is this just another one of their cash grabs because they have lost some kickback from Di Lorenzo now that we are not using them to do our floors downstairs? Has anyone else incurred this charge from them? They couldn't even give us an explanation of what this charge covers, and would only say it was a standard charge. Re: Building Washington 29 from Wisdom Home 252Nov 02, 2013 8:12 pm We also had the item included when we initially wanted to do the timber flooring ourself. It's to cover for the worker to comeback and place the skirting back. Then we had a timber floor quote with dilorenzo directly and managed to negotiate on the price. The price difference was worth it considering the added warranty included as part of the house warranty. So the tack on skirting item was removed for us. Re: Building Washington 29 from Wisdom Home 254Nov 02, 2013 8:29 pm Aheron, did you end up paying the fee to have the skirtings tacked on? The charge is not to cover the cost of them coming back to install the skirting boards as we have it in writing that they will not return to install the skirtings after the floors are laid if we do the floors ourselves after handover. They cannot actually explain what the charge is for.
