Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 03, 2013 10:56 am My name is Cameron and my partners name is Erin. We moved over from NZ in February last year. And this is our first home build/buy. We are building the Delta2 with commodore homes in the new estate 'The Chimes'. Deposits are down and meeting with broker today to get finance sorted. The land titles are due in april, and the land developers (Peet) are doing site surveys and sending to builders to help building commence a little earlier than normal. Here is a picture of the front elevation we have chosen, and then a picture of the elevation I have modified to include extension of rendered wall, colours we are thinking of using, and the basic landscaping we will end up with. Also to note our land is wider so the side where the garage is there will be 3m to the boundary, and we will be having all that extra width done with exposed aggregate too and also 8m back down the side of the house to allow for a boat or extra cars storage. P.S sorry for amateur job on picture, But gives a fair idea of what it looks like http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/Camer ... sort=3&o=1 http://s1326.photobucket.com/user/Camer ... sort=3&o=0 Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 3Apr 03, 2013 3:42 pm Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 4Apr 03, 2013 4:00 pm Thanks for that will know for future pic posts. Yes very modern. We are both 23 years old and enjoy the modern look. We really want to have wood style garage and front doors. But have no idea on what extra cost may be in prestart. We will be going for as dark a possible colourbond roof as we can get, with the feature brick at the front to match the roof colour, while we keep the feature rendered wall a grey tone off white. We are in two minds what to do with the driveway. We can only afford basic expose agg (being grey base with either black stones or very basic colours of stones). Unsure if this will be effective or if we should go down another path for driveway. Also unfortunately we cant afford to do the front landscaping as pictured in the first pic. Wondering what other ideas we can do that are cost effective to get a nice front landscaping. Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 5Apr 03, 2013 4:32 pm In having wood look garage and 1200mm wood pivot front door. You're welcome to PM me with list of things you want know costs on. I may have the info for you I'm 25 and my husband is 27. Based on your elevation I think we may have similar taste Look forward to following your build Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 6Apr 03, 2013 4:42 pm Hi, Yes I would say very similar. We are wanting the wood look garage and we have already changed our plan to put in a 1200mm front door too haha, but havent spoken on material or colour of front door yet, though we want wood too. I looked at your other thread and its basically the same as we have envisaged. We are getting near exact same colour wood style floor, but we are doing vinyl not planks. And we have black carpet. Our colour choices for bathroom and wet areas will be very very similar to your choices haha. We will be having black kitchen cupboards with white laminate bench. And possibly red tiles splashback. Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 7Apr 03, 2013 9:07 pm CamErin very nice frontage we wanted wood look roller door to but as we are having a triple we didn't want to high light the garage as the feature however we are having a wood feature at the top of portico and double wood front doors as for colurs we are having grey render too we also have chosen black stone for the kitchen , I have it in our current house and I love it, how exciting hey Hi all also building with New Generation Homes the Monterey on a corner block with a side frontage and a triple garage looking forward to moving Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 8Apr 03, 2013 9:42 pm The elevations look great. Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 9May 05, 2013 8:55 pm Hi there CamErin We're building in Baldivis too, in the Parkland Heights estate (currently live in Settlers) with Aveling. We're just about at slab down - very excited! Just bumping your thread to see if you had a copy of your houseplan to post? We're mad keen for plans on this site! Looking forward to following your progress, and good luck with everything... We're building in Spires Estate and have our pre start this Friday... We had no idea what we were in for and I'm so greatful for this forum! Your house looks great! and is very modern and we also are getting the wooden look garage door and 1200mm hinged door... I had my heart set on cedar as the colour of the wood for both but just found out that Hume doors (which are who our builder gets doors through) only have cedar coloured doors up to 820mm - i loved the XGE5 in cedar but there is a similar one in 'sliced pacific maple' XS11 that were eyeing up but have to check if the colour is person is close enough to cedar otherwise we might look at another company which could end up being costly! Good luck with your build and sorry I can't be of any help for landscaping... Look forward to following your progress Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 11May 06, 2013 8:50 am Hahaha can't edit on my iPhone - * my partner, 2 year old daughter and I * lol Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 13May 19, 2013 11:41 pm How's everything going? What stage you up to now? Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 14May 20, 2013 1:58 pm Just signed early contracts and waiting for the land titles. Probably looking at prestart around september. So no slab until october or november. Its ridiculous hiw slow the process is Re: First time building - Baldivis, with commodore homes 15May 20, 2013 2:01 pm Id say you're looking at prob December for a slab. Most of us have had to wait minimum 3 months after prestart. Apparently they are swamped. This is what a CA told a friend who just got keys Hopefully they slow down a bit by end of year so process is bit quicker for you! waiting is the hardest part Been almost 9 months since we signed up... still few weeks away from slab Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8950 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
