Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2013 11:35 pm Silly question time. Ive just been out in the garage counting the bricks on our rental. 29 course. My plans come with 25c garage. I drive a Mitsubishi Outlander with roof racks. Im told we ought to raise the garage to accommodate the 4WD....but Ive just checked, 25c is fine! Theres loads of room - I was led to believe Id be ripping the garage door off when we drove in if we left it like this... Is this just another un-necessary cost? Anyone else here have a 25c garage & regret not extending it? Im reigning in & prioritising the costs! Thanx in advance. Building with 101 Residential in Falcon. Re: Garage height - extend for 4WD or not? 2Mar 30, 2013 11:42 pm My prado with lift kit and roof bars (not a roof rack) comes in at 2.1m... Garage @ 25c and garage at -01c would give me 2.29m. But what about the actual opening, as the door will have a Pelmet or a t-bar at the front.. So it should be fine, but do you plan on getting a bigger car in the future? Re: Garage height - extend for 4WD or not? 3Mar 30, 2013 11:44 pm Yeah I want a Toureg! BUT - we have space down the side of the house air marked for boat/additional parking/potential garage extension or car port....so if we ended up with a bigger car its not like there arent other options in the pipeline.... I think I have my answer! Thanks. Building with 101 Residential in Falcon. Re: Garage height - extend for 4WD or not? 4Mar 31, 2013 8:27 am We raised the garage height simply to make it line up with the windows, cos we have a dropped garage by 8 courses. Now that the bricks have gone up, standing in it, it feels huge. The steel bar over the door is least 2.4m off the ground. Nice to have the option of parking a truck in there, but the look as more important to us (well my wife!). Re: Garage height - extend for 4WD or not? 5Mar 31, 2013 9:20 am Our garage is 24c which is fine for my imax but what you need to be careful of is that the height of the door space entry is lower than the roof height. The standard is apparently 2100. This is fine for an imax without roof racks but if we had had a higher vehicle or roof racks we would have needed to get the roller door space enlarged and the roller door lifted and lengthened to allow for the larger vehicle. When we were looking into if we needed this they told us there were some larger standard garage doors. Re: Garage height - extend for 4WD or not? 6Mar 31, 2013 6:34 pm Get it increased. 29 should be considered standard. You'll apreciate it later if you want to put a roof rack on the car. 25 is a tight squeeze and you need to remember the door reduces the height again. You'll regret it when you have to park your car in the driveway because it can't fit. Its also better to go to 6.5 minimum width and depth. To be honest the next house I build will have a 31 course height and 7x8 width depth. ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7740 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18556 Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1.
