The roof and bricks look stunning

Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 162Feb 15, 2009 9:01 pm In the last picture it was a cloudy day and I was rather surprised how the roof looks "whiter". Well it does to me, on a sunny day it looks more similar to what a plain corrugated roof would look like. It's good that it kind of blends in with the tank & shed a bit. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 166Feb 19, 2009 5:16 pm ![]() Looks really good. You are at a similar stage to us, they've just finished our downstairs render (inside and out) and I think ceilings go in tomorrow. This seems to be the exciting part for me, can't wait to see the inside colours!!! oh yeah they finished the render today, I guess someone else is doing the plaster since they packed up all their gear and left. Unless like you say ceilings are coming next?? Hmmm wait and see now. Oh gee they're keen, one of the render guys got here at 6:20am!!!!!! I was still in bed - alarm goes off at 6:30. Guess they wanted to finish off the main bedroom / hall and move on to the next job. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 167Feb 19, 2009 8:22 pm Hi pebbles,
I am at a similar stage! So excited ![]() The plasterer has just put plaster on walls and ceiling the cornices have arrived so its starting to look like a house now. I cant wait to get to the kitchen and tiling stage. All the best I will keep a look out dont forget heaps of photos ![]() Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 168Feb 19, 2009 10:57 pm It maybe that there is a particular guy they want to do the final coat. it would take a bit more experience to do a good job I would suspect. Some of ours is tiny bit rough in places. I think we are going to have to sand a few spots before painting which is a shame. Last time our plaster would was amazingly smooth it felt like silk to run your hand over it. can't say that about a few bits of the walls this time. I know Dh isn't happy with a few bits though it has dried looking slightly better. There are a few bits that look slightly dirty so looks like we'll be trying to paint everything asap now. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 169Feb 20, 2009 4:33 pm Ok ok, I spoke to the CS and he said the plasterers went on to another job before coming back to do ceilings etc.
BUT the paving arrived ![]() Outer border is Charcoal, inner border is grey, and the rest is cream. We actually paid extra (like $100odd) for the privilege because apparently people normally only have two colours (ie cream, charcoal, cream). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ CS also said he might sent a paving bloke over today but no one came ![]() ![]() Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 170Feb 20, 2009 4:36 pm Great progress Pebble I can't believe how quickly everything has happened for you and your place is looking fantastic. I bet its getting very exciting for you to see everything take shape and nice colours on the pavers by the way. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 172Feb 20, 2009 8:44 pm oh Pebble. That is exciting. Hubby and have been discussing paving this week. Our SC talked us out of getting the paving done with the builder. we'll have to source someone to lay ours and buy it in ourselves.
So do you think they will lay the pavers while the internals are being done ? 3 colours sounds lovely. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 173Feb 21, 2009 5:10 pm It sounds like everything will start happening again next week - yes including the paving. Only thing is that they will protect it with drop sheets when it comes to oiling the poles (we opted for oil rather than paint, for a natural look).
Well I could get the number off the paving guy when he comes here ![]() So mid next week I look forward to seeing some more action. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 174Feb 24, 2009 7:43 pm Well yesterday the prep work for the paving was done.
Today we got the ceiling stuff and insulation batts delivered and whatever else is wrapped in black plastic. Oh and the full rubbish bin has been taken away for the first time - not bad hey!! Lol guess it shows how much wood and stuff we fished out to keep ![]() Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 175Feb 24, 2009 9:24 pm did you have one of the big skip bins Pebble? We had little tiny ones. I think they were scared the locals would come along and try and fill it. we had a few bits of junk dumped in it anyway but not as much stuff as sometimes happened. Our S.S. told us they used to get mattresses etc dumped in the big skips. We still have quite a bit of timber at the front of our place. Not sure if it's for the taking atm. And still more bricks to move. DH hasn't be able to find the "keep the leftover bricks" clause we had written into the paperwork. I'm sure I spotted it at one stage.
Better charge up your camera batteries. it sounds like a serious photo session must be due soon at your place. I thought the plasterers might not but was hoping the pavers would.I'll do some inside shots once white plaster or ceilings are in. There was some long timber left over here too and CS said we could take it, some of it had started warping anyway due to being out in the weather. I got motivated and built myself a bike rack out of some timber we kept It's a rough job but does the job nicely! I guess it's a big bin . . . it's in this picture.... ??? Paving Prep below, but there is footprints now since the delivery people seems to have walked all around the house!! And I tried to take a sunset shot. Gee it's getting darker earlier suddenly and lighter later in the mornings!! If daylight savings got voted in I reckon clocks should move back right now. Photo below - shame about the tap, but that's the only one that turned out reasonable. Re: Pebbles progress ...living and loving 177Mar 05, 2009 6:35 pm Yaaay we had our floor and bathroom tiles delivered today. But I had to chose a different grout colour because they didn't have the one we chose any more, oh well I took a punt and chose "antique white", I figured it's only the floors anyway and will end up looking black before long either way. Gee I hope it's for the floor tiles!!!! (wish I could get on the phone to check at the same time as being on the net)
Paving is mostly done now, (plumbing has to be finished off before they can complete it). Not sure what's happening with ceilings and plaster (shrug). Anyway some photos.... Very nice. Heres hoping your plasterers come back and get their act together soon. nothing to do with salespeole. you'd do well to read and ccomprehend the post before bashing away at the keys with some negative comment again. 4 2357 8 2227 5 2324 |
