Oh Pebbles, your house is inspiring It's just perfect for it's location.
When we were looking at properties we saw a few that had put a "suburban" house on a rural block, and some had even fenced the back in colourbond, so it looked like they had a ripped a house out the 'burbs and plonked it in the middle of 5 acres - it just didn't look right. What is the point of having that location if you can't enjoy it from every window in the house
Can I ask what brick you used?? We will be going for a very similar look, ie. double course limestone brick, Surfmist roof with Wilderness gutters etc.
ETA: Scrap that - just re-read your first post - Midland Brick Florentine Limestone

Ahh good, I was just about to look it up because I couldn't remember myself. We did drive around the new estates and checked out the look of the different bricks in reality, we had a choice between Midland Brick and Austral, and in the end that one was the one we liked best.
We always did like the floor plan of this place, but primary considerations were orientation to suit the block (like where the alfresco would be, the front door, the side entry etc and to take advantage of the views (albeit just trees)). And also we wanted something that's relatively flow through both for the summer breezes and easy heating by the wood heater in the winter time. You can see this place fits the bill perfectly, and I agree it really does suit it's surrounds. Actually over the road from us (yes we do have neighbors), there is a very similar style house with a green roof and normal sized bricks (not sure of the colour but they're not cream and not red) and their place looks really great as well. I guess the whole "verandas all the way round" is synonymous with what's considered a country home.
