Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 25, 2013 8:52 am Hi everyone we have our inspection tomorrow to finally get in And check out the completed house. A few queries! First of all there are no taps coming out of the wall for the washing machine, I referred back to the contact and it says "stop taps concealed in cabinet" I can't work out how the washing machine (which is a top loader will be plugged in to the taps?? Does this sound strange?? Another querie is that the certificate of completion (CO) has been passed but the site is not cleared, the splashback is not in and the back tap is not either?? I Find it strange that they could pass it for a CO with these things not done! I have not got the CO but my site supervisor said that it's been passed and to look out for it. I have called head office and spoke to the SS who said not to worry.. A little frustrating as I thought a CO was for a "complete house" Any expertise or experience on this would be great. Re: Advice please (laundry taps & CO) 2Mar 25, 2013 8:57 am Regarding your taps, they should have made a hole in the side a of the cupboard for the hoses and drainage pipe to pass through. We have an under bench front loader with the taps in the cupboard and his is how ours is set up. Should be exactly the same for a top loader. The laundry has a more streamlined look with the taps concealed. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Does this sound strange?? I am still in the tender stage of my build. I have been wondering about this myself as well. The display home has the tap inside the cabinet but there is no hole on the side of the cabinet for the water hose to be inserted. Do we need to drill the holes ourselves? I have also measured the length of the hose on my top loader washing machine to see if it is long enough. It looks like it will barely reach without putting on some sort of extension to the hose. Does this sound strange?? Ours was the same. Our SS said that the builder does not cut holes in the cabinet as different Washing Machines need the pipes in different locations. 2 mins with a hole saw and I fixed it myself. The key word is practical which also means 'more or less'. Re: Advice please (laundry taps & CO) 5Mar 25, 2013 9:26 am Thanks for the info. Guess I need to invest in a hole saw. Still though, I reakon all should be complete! Obviously the big ticket items like oven stove hot water go in on handover which is to be expected as per contract. I would of preferred we go though it when all complete but we are just really excited to inspect it I will just have to trust that it wil all get done in the end Re: Advice please (laundry taps & CO) 6Mar 25, 2013 9:30 am They did forget our hole. I pointed it out to our SS and he asked where we wanted it and it was done before handover. Mention it to your SS before you invest in the saw, they should do it for you as it's unusable as is. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Advice please (laundry taps & CO) 7Mar 25, 2013 10:19 am Thanks will certainly bring it up with him tomorrow. Slightly frustrated with the Plummer hoping the free standing bath is siliconed in by now, also the tiles are all chipped around the tap Lots to write down. Apparently they get stolen very often so handover is the best day to have them. The requirement is for a waterstop to be installed to the entries of the room, (a small aluminum 'L' angle to retain the water to within the room) can't see if they have… 1 2606 Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included. My hesitation… 0 25345 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4424 |
