Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2013 7:24 pm Hi We are in the process of doing a knockdown rebuild on our block and the dramas are in full swing before the wrecking ball is even near the place. The house has been vacant since the middle of February with all the abolishment paperwork being submitted at the end of January. The house had the fuse removed and de-energised real quick but the actual abolishment has been a nightmare. Electricity - I got so sick of the constant blame game and incompetance between Energy Australia and SP Ausnet so I have gone to the Ombudsman. This has meant that SP Ausnet were supposed to ring me in 3 days of them receiving the complaint it took them four and basically we are no where near a resolution and are at the mercy of a "truck being in the area" to get the line disconnected! Gas - Again Energy Australia completely dropped the ball on this one however actually admitted they stuffed up but this was only after I rang Jemena direct and actually found out what was going on and that Energy Australia booked the job twice and had not submitted the correct form. They managed to speed this up and when I went to the house today the gas meter and pipe have been removed HOWEVER Jemena have majorily damaged the footpath which of course affects my asset protection insurance. Does anyone know where I stand with this??? I plan to go and take heaps of photos tomorrow showing the damage and that the house is still there so it has nothing to do with the demolishers. So what should I do now????? Any advice is greatly appreciated Re: HELP - Gas and Electricity abolishment issues need advic 2Mar 22, 2013 7:43 pm Hi, Just been through all the pre demolition work. With the Gas I had to go through the supplier, Energy Australia.... they took the longest. After 2 weeks they came and removed the Gas meter, then about 2 weeks later they came and removed the Gas piping all the way back to somewhere... With the electricity abolishment, I bypassed Energy Australia and went straight to SPAusNet... took about 2 weeks. Meter and overhead lines all gone. Can't help you much with the damaged footpath, however I would leave it damaged and then fix it after the house is built. I recon you will have to bear the cost of this.... You'll get your council bond back once it’s all fixed. Tips: Get your Sewer and Stormwater capped now!!! Order your underground power now!!! (takes 2-3 months) Get your demolisher to do a site scrape after the demo... else your builder will tell you to clean the block of rubble or of course they can do it for a fee.$$$ We are about to partially demo our house to begin a major renovation… by partial it almost may as well be a new build (keeping front for heritage) This will require the… 0 2487 3 1152 Need more photos from around the house including your gutters. We have had 3 of the wettest years in a row for some time so that wouldn't be helping 3 6946 |
