Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight..sort of 502Jan 07, 2014 12:20 pm So redink have said they can move the missed powerpoint for us. Kind of beside the point. I dont want it moved, I wanted it where it was meant to be. So I will sulk about this for a few days before I make a decision about what I want to do. The doors are being glossed this week. Perhaps if they get enough paint on the walls again this time we wont have to paint it after handover? Flyscreens, house clean, service run in and stovetop due next week. Garage door next week I think after they have moved the pavers out of the way. Really then the only thing left to do would be towel rails and door handles. Still thinking they will 'work towards' a PCI date of 30/31st Jan - which feels like an awful long time to wait given the small amount of work left to be done. can you tell that I am feeling a little tired of this game now? haha. So its looking like keys mid feb for keys. Does anyone know if its 10 business days or 10 days after PCI you get keys? Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 503Jan 07, 2014 12:24 pm Usually 10 working days. We had handover exactly 2 weeks after PCI but it depends on the builder and what they have to fix, if there isn't much to fix and you can organise the bank making payment you can normally negotiate to get keys earlier. The last few weeks of work seemed to drag on for ours. It looked finished for at least 2 weeks before we had PCI! Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 504Jan 07, 2014 1:21 pm The 10 days went way out the Window with us! And still had a fair bit to be fixed after handover. They do come back and fix things after you have made final payment though Once your doors are glossed check them over thoroughly...we are only just noticing now where the gloss is missing on our doors, it's just the flat primer. Some patches were really obvious but others we haven't noticed til now Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 505Jan 07, 2014 1:27 pm Thanks Kat and fmac. Yeah based on what they are saying will be keys 14th feb. don't think I'll book my leave until 24th feb just to be sure. I don't want to be messed around. Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 506Jan 07, 2014 1:53 pm We still had paint all over the glass in our front door and they cleaned it off after I mentioned it again during our 6 month maintenance (we thought it would have been done during the 'super clean' which we never really got). The handyman who does the maintenance is wonderful, I wish we had him as our site supervisor, he's pointed out so many little things that weren't done properly. abut 80% of items on our 6 month maintenance report was cleaning up paint mess. Ahhhh - that does not fill me with hope! Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 508Jan 07, 2014 2:09 pm "Super clean" hahahahahaha the only thing super is the name of it. You will unfortunately be spending your leave cleaning up. I wish I had known this during the build and I would of done the bathrooms prior to handover when I had the time. Just so you know and are mentally prepared...The super clean is just putting bows and ribbons on your doors etc...oh and plastic over the kitchen benches to hide the dirt. Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 509Jan 07, 2014 2:20 pm Hahaha - thanks for the warning guys. I am trying to figure out how much time to take off from work. I only had planned 1, but 2 seems more reasonable doesnt it? Keeping in mind we are doing all of our own painting Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 510Jan 07, 2014 5:17 pm I took 4 days (but it did take ages to move out of our flat, plus hubby had a storage unit of 'stuff/junk' that we had to clear out). It's pretty exhausting moving house, would not want to do it again in a hurry. My Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63545 Re: Redink SOR rear build - PCI in sight...sort of? 512Jan 07, 2014 5:49 pm I have spoken to people about how long it takes to paint because I have to do mine by myself so I am wondering too. 4 days my neighbour did it in working long days with her parents helping and they did a coat of sealer and 2 top coats. I plan on one (long?) day just wiping the walls down then one week to do the sealer and 2 top coats. 2 weeks off work, maybe even 3 just to not be rushed painting, moving in, buying stuff, doing the extra jobs that need doing, and to have some time to enjoy the house! Haven't booked time off yet because I want to get solid dates from redink. I work for the govt and it's so tough to get cover/leave with the budget crackdowns so I submitted mine today. I hope I have given them enough time!
