Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 21, 2013 3:31 pm Hi all We are building with Aveling and I thought I may aswell start up my own thread on how it all goes. Yesterday we had our pad and earthworks commenced so we are hoping for a slab early next week! Have been delayed nearly three weeks now and apparently the earthworks company were sacked because of it so we will see how quickly things progress from here! Anyone else building with Aveling? It has been a very drawn out process! Nearly 7months waiting for anything to happen on the block but we are still happy with aveling so far. We are building a version of the bletchley park but have swapped the laundry to replace the study, and converted the old laundry to a scullery. Pretty happy with our design so far! My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 2Mar 21, 2013 8:00 pm Welcome! We are in a similar place to you. Site finally got cleared today and hoping for a slab by the end of next week! We first signed with our builder last September, seeing action on site has taken ages even though we finished in scheduling the beginning of February!! Just googling your plan to check it out Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 3Mar 21, 2013 8:14 pm Hi aveling newby. Where are you building? Is Mi.ke your SS? Can't wait to see all your photos. You know there are 5 of us now. Jaceb, Happy Taurus, Blond1e, you guys and us. That's the most this site has even seen compared to the big guns haha. The bletchley park is a great design. Congratulations. Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 4Mar 21, 2013 9:41 pm Hi fmac yeah we signed up September too had pre-start 16 December we wet out to the block today and try have peg/roped out for the slab, and it's much bigger than we thought haha! We are on 730sqm and not a great deal of backyard lol! Fantastic to here about your house getting started! Will be great to see how we both go since we r at the same stage Serial builder- we bought a block in rivergums baldivis - established houses all around us sort of feel bad when they start making noise haha! Thanks we r pretty happy with the design - added a big alfresco onto it along with stacker doors leading out to alfresco and bifold windows in scullery hopefully it will look ok! So interested to hear how everyone's builds go! My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 5Mar 21, 2013 9:44 pm Oh and I'm not sure about our s.s yet, all we have been hearing from is our liaison officer Ps sorry for not making sense / spelling errors in above post - it's been a long day lol My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 6Mar 21, 2013 9:50 pm We had prestart 30 November It's exciting when you see something happen on site. Your house plan looks amazing, like you scullery/laundry changes. As I imagine it anyway We only have a 300m2 block. We will have 4x10m of backyard. But it's just us at the moment and we will be close to family and friends. We went to baldivis when we signed up, our sales guy was down there! We really liked it but wouldn't have been practical for us. Maybe one day.... Though by then it'll probably be a very different place! Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 7Mar 23, 2013 3:59 pm So I'm still trying to work out photobucket so sorry for the delays! Progress on the block has been flat out this week yay In three days the site has been peg/string out and earthworks completed, plumbing completed, and today they are doing the footings! Amazing what happens when you make a point of saying you are dissapointed with the delays! Very happy with aveling and the fact everything is moving along steadily - hopefully it will continue! Just a qu - we r having rectified porcelain tiles and someone mentioned to us that we should let the supervisor know so that the concreters know when pouring the slab to take extra care at making it level... I would have thought they would need to ensure its level anyway My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 8Apr 02, 2013 11:13 am Slab down Monday 25/3/13 yay And soak wells hav been put in 29/3/13 Window frames have been delivered, we are now just waiting on our bricks so the walls can start going up My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 9Apr 02, 2013 11:14 am Excellent, great news. Brickies have really been working hard and it has been nearly two weeks now that they have been bricking. soon the kitchen cabinet makers will be in to measure up and get that ball rolling too! Momomo - it went very slow for us at the start too - around 5 or so months of just paperwork but once the slab is down things will progress a lot quicker for you! I love the design u picked! We loved that one - nice and big too! My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63673 Re: Aveling homes - first time build baldivis 18Apr 29, 2013 9:17 pm Thanks, AN We've earthworks scheduled for late this week, so hopefully only a couple of weeks more until slab down?
