There was some equipment there today, I think they might be waterproofing the wet areas. Might pop by with the kids tomorrow and see what they are up to. There were three tradies onsite today, one from seaview joinery to put glass in the bifolds, another to do the eaves and another to do the doors and fix the wip door so I have a nib. Just updated the week and realised that if I was pregnant we would be half way through! Can't believe the build has been going on so long. Sometimes it does seem like a pregnancy, ha ha Going to site tonight so will update later. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 19 647Dec 11, 2013 11:22 am Congratulations on lock up. It makes things seem all that much closer. Entry will look lovely with the real door. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 19 648Dec 11, 2013 11:24 am Thanks Lucinda and yes you are right as it means that there is one less thing to delay the build because now they can work freely inside I think that is why I was so keen for lock up! Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 19 651Dec 11, 2013 9:54 pm Ooooo can't wait to see your cabinetry! See good things do happen to those who wait! Fantastic news and I'm very pleased for you Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 19 652Dec 12, 2013 8:32 pm Me either panacotta, I am still in shock at all the unexpected work onsite, ha ha. Hopefully I will be celebrating moving in not too much longer after you. We can crack cyber champagne together Carpenter was back on site today but not much to see. Apparently where I want a nib created it is a load bearing wall. There is about 2cm that can be added for a nib and between that and shaving off about 2cm from the door will create a nib of approx. 4 - 5 cm. The door is wider at 820cm so taking 2cm off should not impact the entry way too much. Re: FH's Custom Build in SA- Week 19 653Dec 12, 2013 9:30 pm Yay yay yay! Cannot wait to see your cabinetry either. Now that we have our frame, while I am excited to see everything, I am most excited to see my cabinetry go in so I feel your joy over that Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. I think that is the only thing that will be done this side of the year. Have noticed that the nibs around the toilet doors is not ideal and am a bit annoyed about this. They translated our design and have not put as much of a nib is as we had on our plan. We should have picked that up however they should have built into the frame the small nibs that are drawn on the plan. Seems rather careless and I would have liked them to put more effort into the plan. Our building inspector pointed out that there are not a lot of measurement so it makes it difficult to hold them accountable. If I had unlimited budget I would go with a builder who did a much more detailed plan including distances of everything. Anyway I remind myself that we are building a house for a certain budget and this is the (small) price that we pay. Bottom line is that if I paid for the service I would have had to compromise upgrades and I would still rather the upgrades. Anyway, will let you know once cabinets are done I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 26328 6 43188 Thanks NativeZen! I can't wait to start landscaping, though it's going to be a while away yet. No movement on site yet as of the weekend. Hoping to see some earthworks… 3 2163 |
