My answer would be I'm not sure. Now you tell me!!! Re: Rex's Redink build - POST HANDOVER 602Dec 05, 2013 1:20 am We are the same. We were so excited to get the house done in under 22 weeks but 4 months after getting keys we are still having to have things fixed. It's taken multiple emails and a threat to get our own plumber and send them the invoice to have the leaking kitchen tap to be fixed!! I'd say don't be afraid to tell the builder about issues post handover. Our 6 month maintenance list is growing by the day! Most things could have been. Solved by a little quality control! Rex I hope in another week or two you can really enjoy your new home because it looks amazing!! And be thankful you can harass the builders for things to fixed,an established home its all on the purchaser!! Our independent building inspector is good already earnt his money. We will only get to see our build for the first time over Xmas. Think we will have to drive down when they start doing the inside. I will not need much encouragement especially during cyclone season. Love you choice of colour for the wall. This will ensure that when you actually move a few weeks later everything will be in working order. I just discovered that our living room light is not connected to a switch and the actual switch is connected to the passage way light that already has a two way switch. They were all supposed to be checked yesterday but yet again who was I kidding. Also two of our three toilets are leaking in the cisterns. You can hear the water trickling constantly. I didn't notice that in the short trips. Also we're still waiting for those few more things to be fixed. I worry that redink will put us at the back of the queue thinking we're done and they've got our money. They want us to fill out a survey and the first question is would you recommend them to your friends. My answer would be I'm not sure. Very few of the tradesmen we were entirely happy with. Workmanship and reliability were always questionable. Communication also was a let down. I know that if I wasn't involved in the build so much myself that there would have been a lot more problems. I am sorry to hear that there are still issues Rex. Mr Charlie is also very dis satisfied with alot of the trades, lack of communication & the amount of "wasted" time for jobs to be completed. We will be the same & find it very hard to recommend RI to anyone. I also agree that I am sure there would have been way more issues if I haven't been so involved with every step & am at the house at least 2-4 times a day to check workmanship / plans against jobs that have been completed. On a happy note, I really like you paint choice, very nice. Shame to hear about the lighting issue, not a big issue to rectify but annoying nonetheless for sure! Why can't houses be built perfect? If the flush seal is leaking it's an easy DIY fix, so even though it's not your responsibility if you feel like taking things into your own hands the seals are only a couple of dollars at bunnings. Re: Rex's Redink build - POST HANDOVER 608Dec 05, 2013 1:37 pm Thanks for that Duke. The toilet thing isn't a big deal. My dad is a plumber and can fix it easily. He told me the stylus toilets are cheap quality anyway. The issue I have is that I have a checklist from the plumbers that has checked through everything as well as the electricians. Maybe it's from dust but I doubt it. I can't see how dust would get through the housing but I'll recheck anyway. And yes I worked the arm up and down several times. I've had and fixed this issue on other toilets in the past but they were over 10 years old. And wfry, I don't expect perfection but I do expect some quality. Not just 'yeah good enough let's go home'. Re: Rex's Redink build - POST HANDOVER 609Dec 05, 2013 3:38 pm The house is looking lovely. It's so frustrating when trades make multiple careless mistakes over and over, to this day I still don't get what the site supervisor actually does. We had quite a few outstanding items after handover and after a grumbley email to Redink they did sort them all out and still treated me like a 'current' customer, even though we had fully paid up. My Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63545 Re: Rex's Redink build - POST HANDOVER 610Dec 05, 2013 4:56 pm I found lots of things as well when i spent day at house whilst my electrician was working and i was pottering around. Id recommend everyone spend a day just using everything and trying it all out. I filled our survery at handover and said yes i would recommend. After all crap thats happened since handover id prob say NO I have a gorgeous house but thats thanks to my own trades and my choices, not my builder Re: Rex's Redink build - wall paint done 611Dec 06, 2013 9:13 pm Wall painting is finished. A two day break until the tiling starts. In the meantime we will be going to lighting places to buy all our lights and fans to be installed just before we move in. I've had phone calls regarding remaining pci items. Redink are still working to finish things of for us which is good. Re: Rex's Redink build - wall paint done 612Dec 06, 2013 9:31 pm Painting looks fabulous! I think I'd book in to the Aqua Frost Quarter suite myself. Re: Rex's Redink build - wall paint done 617Dec 12, 2013 1:21 am So tiling after the second day and I can say I'm happy with the workmanship. Wow I can't believe I just said that. A few pics. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y521/rex7777777/20131211_212011_zpse6b524ea.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y521/rex7777777/20131211_212002_zps4814a6db.jpg It was an eventful day. I ordered carpet through trevors a few weeks ago and was scheduled to pick it up yesterday. No phone call so ok today I called up. Turns out the ship is delayed until mid January! I was furious cursing and swearing in the store. They gave me my deposit back and I left never to return again. Fortunately Iwent eelswhere and secured carpet for laying on the weekend but iwas lucky. The bobcat driver was supposed to remove excess sand from the block. He came after much begging and took a few scoops complaining that redink and other builders don't pay them enough. He didn't finish the job and I wont be wanting him back. Also discovered that a gpo in the garage can come off the wall with little effort. Wonderful. Also needed update on cabinet people to replace a kickboard which they said would happen on tuesday morning. Phoned today and they said the maintenance guy is not available but will call back. Whole day passed no call. Still have some outstanding items from pci. Sigh! Re: Rex's Redink build - floor tiling 618Dec 12, 2013 1:43 am That's a lot of tiling done in 2 days!! looks awesome!! Not great about trevors...they are supposed to be doing our place in a week! We are still waiting on the cabinet maker to rectify issues with our place too...and quite a few other trades for outstanding issues and things we have noticed since being around the house. Sounds like our SS is just as annoyed as us at the lack of action though! Re: Rex's Redink build - floor tiling 619Dec 12, 2013 10:02 am Tiles look fabulous. I'm sorry about the carpet and other frustrations--hope everything resolves for you soon. You too xxkatxx. Re: Rex's Redink build - floor tiling 620Dec 12, 2013 10:59 am Tiles look great. Oh what a pain about not getting your things fixed, not good. You have paid for that house and they should make sure it is finished. Makes me so cross a ridiculous system.
