He said that it will be bricked up to the ceiling once the plasterboard goes up so that was a relief. So for anyone else doing a 31 course plasterboard ceiling in their alfresco, keep this in mind. Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF TILES DELIVERED 243Aug 10, 2013 8:02 pm Thanks great news Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 244Aug 14, 2013 9:55 pm So today they started the roof. Battens have been nailed in. Interesting that they are made of karri. I thought karri wood would be more precious than used for roof battens but anyway. Stacks of roof tiles have been placed on the roof ready for tomorrow. The rain will start in the afternoon so I hope they get the tiles on before then. You're at the mercy of these people. We are more than happy. They are actually lighter than this photo shows. More an off white. On the plus side. Those tiles looks great. Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 246Aug 14, 2013 10:32 pm Wow I would cry if I saw that graffiti but yay for roof tiles Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 247Aug 14, 2013 10:38 pm So sorry to see what the turds have done, best wishes with beating the rain tomorrow Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 248Aug 14, 2013 10:41 pm The graffiti is so not fair but I expect the builders will fix it. Everything else looks good. Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 249Aug 14, 2013 10:45 pm Thanks guys....will be extra worried after handover. Wish parents just watched their kids!! Just happy the floor tiles are sorted too...a huge load off Mrs Rex Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF BATTENS 250Aug 15, 2013 12:35 pm Great progress Mrs Rex, your build seems to moving quickly. Really awful that someone's vandalised your house, thats shocking, my dad's new house was vandalised years ago, they lit a fire on the living room floor - it was a wood floor. I hope you can get it all the graffiti off. Didn't realise that the battens were karri we have the same on our house, I wonder why they're made of karri, I agree I thought they would've used something else. Re: Rex's Redink build- ROOF TILES 251Aug 15, 2013 9:07 pm Most of the roof tiles have been laid. Now we can properly visualize the outside of the house. We are glad now that we got gutters and fascias matching the bricks rather than the roof. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ One of the last views to the heavens. Just Ridge capping needs to be cemented in. Plasterers have swept the water out (don't have to worry about that anymore) and cement has been delivered. Maybe that means Grey float will start tomorrow.
