Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 41May 06, 2013 6:35 pm I'll ask my sales guy about the caeser to the powder. He specifically told me it wasn't included. We've not received our tender yet. I'll wait a few days and pester them. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 42May 08, 2013 5:36 pm It was 3 weeks on Monday since our tender presentation, no check plans yet. However after speaking with our CSO yesterday they are drawn, just need to be checked before they are posted. So we should have them by Friday. Can anyone tell us if we get a list/diagram to complete for external colours? Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 43May 08, 2013 7:06 pm Our check plans took just over 3 weeks. Once you send the check plans back with changes and they revise them they will give you a form to fill out for external colours. It all looks good. Form what we can see so far there are no changes to be made, though there are a couple of things I forgot to ask at tender that we may add. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 45May 13, 2013 6:43 pm Great to hear that you don't have any changes. We had 27 changes and we added quite a few changes that we didn't do at tender Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 46May 14, 2013 10:22 am Just wanted to let you know we have a blog too! http://raisingeggs.wordpress.com/ Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 47May 21, 2013 8:51 pm So we have received the DA Compliance Check today. There are a few changes we will need to make to ensure we meet council requirements. the one we are most worried about is the shadow diagram required to see how much shadow our house will cast over the neighbouring southern block. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 48May 22, 2013 6:12 pm We're still waiting on our tender. Its been over 4 weeks now and they're only just getting around to doing the surveys. I'm so disappointed with Rawson and I haven't even signed with them yet. Seems like it might be a sign of delays to come with them and we need our new home asap! Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 49May 22, 2013 6:29 pm Sorry to hear that they have been so slow. Have they given you a reason for the delay in your tender? Its been over 4 weeks now and they're only just getting around to doing the surveys. I'm so disappointed with Rawson and I haven't even signed with them yet. Seems like it might be a sign of delays to come with them and we need our new home asap! *sigh* Yet another case of them not setting expectation properly! If they'd told you this was normal, you wouldn't be as frustrated as you are now. Seriously, this is normal; ours took about 12 weeks. Yours will be faster than ours, we had quite a few floorplan changes. Try not to be too annoyed by it (I know how hard that is, and that it's easier said than done). Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 51May 22, 2013 8:06 pm 12 weeks - goodness me - you are patient. I wouldn't wait 3 months for just a price with a builder I might not continue with. They mentioned something about screwing up with getting the survey done. And plenty of we're busy excuses. Our floor plan changes were minimal. I'm going to be like Jen though - will have quite a few changes after tender received. We'll probably have to shed fat on the quote! Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 52May 27, 2013 7:48 pm So we got our tender done last week and its over budget a bit. (But not as bad as the other builder). Site costs came to around $50K but it had some rock removal in there we might not need. I can't say I was impressed with the service. The tender presentation was great but the guy wasn't interested in doing additional costings for us, just wanted us to sign up and worry about it later. We realise he doesn't care what it all will cost, but we do! Didn't even want us calling him with questions etc. I don't really want to sign a tender and pay a fee and then worry about making changes to the additional requests later. Its over budget and more than we could commit to. Did anyone else go through this? I totally forgot to ask about caeser to powder. I'm hoping I can negotiate a couple of things in. Most prices were reasonable, but a couple of offensive charges like several hundred dollars for an extra tap point directly next to an existing one. That and a $1700 fee for going through council instead of CDC. All the sales guys we had spoken with said that it would take about the same amount of time as it took extra admin time to go through CDC. If we can't get the price down we might have to approach another builder. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 53May 27, 2013 8:51 pm I honestly don't see a downside in getting costings for something similar off another builder. Obviously make sure you're comparing apples to apples, but as long as you've got the patience it could very well be worth the comparison. However, in our case we compared Alkira & Rawson & Montgomery & Provincial for something very similar; they were all within $15k (so under 5%) of each other. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 54May 30, 2013 9:35 pm All of the costs we got were fixed with regard to council approval. Although one we got our plans back there were changes that needed to be made to comply with council, so we have decided to go CDC. Plans are in at drafting now, which they tell us will take 4 weeks. Then the 10 day or so CDC process. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 55Jun 05, 2013 6:43 pm OK so we're in the building a Chifley club now. Remind me not to make any changes as anything little I suggest costs $$$ Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 56Jun 05, 2013 8:46 pm Mrs brown bear we made lots of changes to our house - 90 variations in total and more priced. Most were reasonably priced, some were silly and we knocked them back, but overall their pricing is fair. But then we didn't actually add much, in effect we really just moved it around. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 58Jun 09, 2013 8:28 am Does anyone know if the Chifley classic facade is all brick up top? I know the bit in front of the ensuite is not, but what about the rest? Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 59Jun 09, 2013 8:33 am Here is a link to the Rawson website - might just have to click to the classic facade http://www.rawsonhomes.net.au/home-design-facade.php?id=2D30XAWM5MLM47FF2PU17PDVW2MQRXDX I think you will find that is is cladding up top Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson 60Jun 09, 2013 8:56 am Thanks Jen, but I've of course already looked at their web site and brochures. They only show the front and its difficult to tell from the photo. Was wondering if any of you Chifley builders knew about the rear etc. Just started the Build process for Chifley 42 with Rawson homes, will keep you all posted with the Build progress. 0 2452 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110570 |
