Will probably be offline for a little while til we sort out the internet at the new house. Will update the blog as soon as we can! Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson - Handover 12th August! 229Oct 30, 2014 8:14 am GPSmith, I'll try to get around to fixing you up with some pics, but they'll be on my blog. Have a house full of sick people at the moment. We extended our kitchen, taking space from the living areas. It basically removed a living area, but we didn't need 5 living areas. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson - Update Photos - 19th 237Aug 09, 2015 10:48 am fizzed Great read guys! Can anyone tell me where I could go to see what vanity options Rawson has? Same for basins? I'm in Sydney Thanks! Rawson has the vanities custom made by Elba Kitchens. Essentially their standard is a floating vanity with doors. How many depends upon the space it is filling. You can then choose stone (20mm) or square edged laminate bench tops, colour and type of laminate (standard is sheen white), to include drawers, shelves, handless etc. But bog standard as mentioned is floating, sheen laminate, doors and square edged laminate bench. Oh when it comes to stone if you choose that it is one choice for the entire house including kitchen, or an extra extra cost. Basins choices are: Caroma Cosmo (included as standard in base Simplicity inclusion) Fowler Regent (Lux) Caroma liano (Lux) I went Simplicity but 'upgraded' to Fowler regent, cost a bit over $100 per basin, which is more or less smack on the actual retail price difference. I also went stone tops, it cost $900 for 3 vanities. Want to see them go to one of their display homes. There are a few in Sydney. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson - Update Photos - 19th 238Aug 09, 2015 11:00 am Hi Sheridan, I've seen your posts earlier but hadnt looked at the details much, saw you blog just now and all those pictures, really great. Love the sunrise photographs n yr hubby seems quite a painter. We are at 17 Morello terrace, and are at tender stage, so shud see construction begin in 4-6 months. Will have a few questions for sure as we go along. Might even start a blog, feel very encouraged after seeing yours, although not quite sure i cud do it as well. keep up with yr updates, its motivating for the rest of us. Cheers Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson - Update Photos - 19th 239Aug 09, 2015 2:12 pm OP, just looked at your blog and build, very nice indeed. I was very happy to see the Tuscan Walnut floor and your other colour choices. In many cases almost identical to what we have chosen, including stairs and glass balustrade for our own build. Though ours is a Kempsey 28, can just hope it turns out as nice as yours. I was worried the Tuscan Walnut might be a bit dark, but not now. Out of intrest what colour did you go for on the staircase? Also interested in the backyard too. One thing that has me concerned is our alfresco is going to be 1.2m lower than natural ground level. Like you we are going to have timber on the alfresco, but I will do it after (BTW why have they put timber battons directly on the concrete, it will rot in time!) My place I have asked for the concrete to be one course lower, as the standard 85mm stepdown doesn't allow enough space for joists and 19mm boards with clear air under for water to flow freely. So interested to see how rather than a retaining wall you have built stairs and graded it up. I am guessing about 800mm from deck to lawn area. Might be what I need to do, or terrace as you have done but with garden, especially as the land also falls left to right 1m over the 15m width of the back yard. Then a retaining wall down the side of the house and alfresco. Re: Building the Chifley with Rawson - Update Photos - 24th 240Aug 24, 2015 7:44 am We have turf! Photos on the blog.
