Sometimes can be refoered to as 'efflorescence'(sp?) The concretors have the change over from winter to summer concrete adds' and the additives used and the weather changes make for 'rapid cure'. during windy and warm dry conditions. What you describe is why we use plastic and sometimes hessian to develop the colour a bit. The blemishes will have character or 'pateenering'. Good luck with the polished concrete. I read on a similar thread about the slab needing to be perfect if laying vinyl planks (which we are) so I want to do what I can to make sure it is. If it falls to us, watering is not a problem as OH is a water carrier. The slab is due to be laid in the next month or so in WA. Thanks! Ask the builder to look in the right hand side (or possibly the left, depending on which state or territory of the country you are in) for the slab and footing detail. You will find: Provide an approved method of cure for a minimum period of 7 days. disclaimer: Look in all corners that mention slab, slab and footing details, engineering plans, site plans or something that describes the requirements of the engineer to portray to the builder the slab is to be cured using a waterproof membrane or other approved concrete curing agent.
