We finally ave some action on site - earthworks started today and when I visited at 4.30 today the block had been completely cleared and leveled - not much to look at but it's a start and we're really excited. Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - On site next week! 42Jul 10, 2013 11:16 pm Excellent news! It's so exciting isn't it! There is so much activity in Burns at the moment - I love it! Our earthworks started last Friday and tonight when we went past pegging had been done. We are scheduled for footings Friday and slab next week. Looks like we will be neck and neck! May have to do a drive by and check your progress. Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - On site next week! 43Jul 11, 2013 10:47 am Hey the_elliotts! Loved reading your posts! Cameron & Kelly The Vale in Aveley, WA Homebuyers Centre The Regent Our Home Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65879 Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - We've got a slab! 44Jul 27, 2013 7:25 pm Time for a wee bit of an update. We lost about a week because they hit rock on our block - turns out they've found a LOT of rock when they were digging the dropped footing and alfresco pier footings that sit alongside where our pool is going in. This wasn't a problem so much of the house as they managed to get the footings deep enough but the builder was worried digging the pool out later might cause issues for the house so we agreed they should dig it out before the house gets built. Really bad news for us was when the rock was so hard a 9 ton rock breaker broke it's pin on the rock! Now we need a 16 ton rock breaker and we're still waiting to find out how much the hole is going to end up costing. Been told $10K minimum The good news is they were confident about pouring the slab even thought the pool still has to be dug out so that went in last week and we can now walk around and get an idea where things are going to - YAY! Will post a few photos later in the weekend after I get a chance to upload them. Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - On site next week! 45Jul 27, 2013 7:29 pm kellyt1992 Hey the_elliotts! Had a look over your thread - wish you all the best with it! Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - We've got a slab! 46Jul 27, 2013 11:48 pm Congratulations on the slab!! Sorry to hear about the rock! I had been so worried about that with our pool.Luckily we didn't hit any limestone. Our builder had warned us that burns beach is so unpredictable. He also built in burns and his block was pure sand and his neighbour was taking out massive boulders. Really hope it doesn't cost you too much Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - We've got a slab! 47Jul 28, 2013 8:51 pm [quote="+Tbrown2012"]:z: Congratulations on the slab!! Sorry to hear about the rock! Let's hope you dont encounter any other dramas in your build. Thanks Nitro, we've had a few days to get over the shock and now just thinking it's one of those things that no one can foresee. I agree though, I really hope it's last of the nasty surprises. Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - We've got a slab! 50Jul 28, 2013 11:15 pm Some photos of the slab pour and finished slab - not the most interesting but hey Couple of puddles on the slab after the rainstorm so looks like the flooring guys might have to sort out a few little dips in the slab in a couple of places. Re: Our Build - Perth NOR - We've got a slab! 59Aug 09, 2013 11:12 pm Solid rock for the entire pool area and all way down to the full depth, had to be dug out to 2.5M and only the top half meter was sand! Still need to have the steps dug - just up to where the two stakes are in the first pic.
