Very nice on the Spotted Gum is gonna look totally awesome Weird about the bricks - Request for Photos. 1) More photos around the kitchen area please. 2) Closer shot of kitchen cupboard "Parchment" gloss please ? 3) Did you add a door leading into Ensuite? if yes, can I see how they have mounted the doors? or Sliding door? 4) Can you measure the height of the step to the alfresco area? Planning my decking ahead of time as it's one of the first things to do Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 142Nov 08, 2013 9:59 pm Will take some more photos for you filthy. The cupboards may still have a protective coating on them but we shall see if the photos turn out okay - no door to the ensuite but if I was building again, I would go for a swinging door and close up the opening a bit, as its very wide in the standard form. Cavity sliding doors are usually a little loud to open and I wouldn't want to wake up/ get woken up every time the bathroom is used at night. It's just my opinion but with a baby sleeping in our room, this is pretty valid in my case. - the step down to alfresco is two bricks high, so 200mm give or take http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r28/txateu/WP_001739.jpg An old photo showing the step down. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 144Nov 09, 2013 9:32 am Hey txateu, Looking at your pictures, the grout line between fllor tile-wall tile-bath hob-skirting tile is perfectly aligned. Could u pls confirm this? Did you ask for the grout to be aligned or it's just that you had a very good tiler??? Please take some more pictures for the bathroom tiles around the shower showing the wall and floor tile. Thankssss a lot! I didn't ask for it though, it just turned out that way. It does look good the tiler actually did a good job. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 150Nov 24, 2013 7:28 pm Ahh not too much to be honest. Everything is now completed except the fitting of a couple of window corner capping covers. We went to the house today and really it's just touch ups now. Still no date given to us about our final inspection. Apparently it's all due to a new quality assurance system which requires more stringent inspections. It's pretty annoying that they house has been close to finished for weeks now and we still may not be in my Christmas! They're really dragging their feet now. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 151Nov 24, 2013 7:51 pm The payments should be 5%, 5%, 5%, 5%, 5%, 75% Final Payment......that will hurry them along Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 153Nov 25, 2013 8:39 am txateu is that new sable luxe for your stone? We've got very similar colours . Same two tone kitchen but we have the woodgrain on the uppers and polar white lowers and bathroom cabinets lol It all looks great! I suppose that they're not too fussed on being paid in February, rather than December.
Hi Davelle, the stone we have is cashmere and from what i heard, MV have stopped supplying it now. Thanks for the kind words, I think the colours look good too. One thing I will point out to any new members building with MV is that you make sure that the cement sheet above the sliding doors is painted the same colour as the ceilings. The standard option is for the sheet to be painted the same as the fascias but on our build I think that the it looks crap. When you look at the colour of the fascia against white (assuming your ceilings a white), it brings out the colours of the fascia, in our case it looks very yellow/green against the ceiling white. I definitely want to paint this later. My other bugbear is that our painters painted straight over the weather strips on the sliding doors, rather than removing them or protect them before painting. Before this was done, the sliding doors opened smoothly, but now they get stuck and I need two hands and brute force to open doors. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 155Nov 26, 2013 12:32 pm hmmm I have another tender on Thursday. I wonder how much it would cost to get them to brick above the sliding door. It was standard last time I built with Henley. Then again if I'm scared of trying to change anything given how long this process has taken already (12 months this weeks) Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 156Nov 27, 2013 8:08 am Its taken 11 months for us to get this far! Granted that we waited 2 months for the revised First Home Buyers Grant. I'd say that if you want brick then you need to do it before the tender or be forced to pay the $500 variation fee and the cost difference. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 158Nov 28, 2013 7:56 am Congratulations. You should get the house before Christmas now. I'm so happy they got it finished for you I can not believe its only taken you 11 months from deposit!!! Just shows how different building experiences can be. My sales reps and admins have kept moving or leaving and my file seems to get lost in the process. Even going into this tender today I expect nothing to have changed or been fixed since last tender in mid September. Hopefully I have pleasantly surprised and they've bothered to follow up the previous admins emails. Re: Txateu's Build - Mainvue Amalfi 532 159Nov 28, 2013 8:59 am congrats txateu, cant wait to hear your feedback on the final product! Ari, i hope your tender goes as swiftly as you'd expect it to be. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
