I actually think that's better. Thank you BB! I have a sample of octagon tile sitting on my lap right now. We may have settled the tile issue and gotten some new benchtops to boot. So i'm feeling a lot more positive about Wednesday's meeting even if I have a list over 50 items long to address. Decorate your home. For me that's really exciting because we essentially came up with our own colour scheme and wouldn't really know what it'd look like until it was done. Your house is going to be stunning with the attention to detail you are showing. From one weatherboarder to another, congratulations. Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 274Oct 05, 2013 10:46 am Thanks Charger. Just had a look at your thread, your home is gorgeous. I LOVE that you have a gas fireplace. That was one thing we had to omit because we didn't plan it in time. It'll have to be down the track and because of the double story, have some sort of bulk head in the wall as we hadn't provisioned for it. Thanks Cinder, the fire place is actually just wood fired but it plugs in because it has a fan to push the heat out. Getting wood can be a pain if you don't have time, but when you do it is a nice day out in the bush with the kids. Luckily my wife is the fire lady, I think I have had to light it once since we moved in. In regards to the chimney, if you do get a gas fire fireplace an external brick chimney would suit the style of your house. You could make a feature of it, but I guess it would depend if you had the spaces and if you like that style. Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 276Oct 05, 2013 5:20 pm Oh yeah of course. In-laws have one the same as yours I remembered, and it's a real log fire. Either way, lovely! LOVE the plaster archway. LOVE the decorative corbels. LOVE the ceiling rose. LOVE the leadlight door and sidelights. LOVE the tiles. What's not to love???? Re: Classic style weatherboard Melbourne - Leadlighting's in 278Oct 06, 2013 9:37 am Hehe thanks Treeseachanger. Really pleased at the feedback everyone's giving. Nice to know everyone approves of your taste They are really ploughing along with everything. We have a garage door, but unfortunately it's incorrect. It's meant to have windows at the top. Highview have been fantastic overall but this is our 4th variation that's not been passed onto whoever does the ordering of the materials. Anyway, guess that's their issue to resolve. Looking good. I love the lead lighting. Now should you paint the door baby blue. I want to say yes but it could go pear shaped. Do you have a pic of the door closed and an idea of the color. I can fool around with in photoshop. Thats what I have been doing for myself in regards to colors. Its easier than repainting and so far even if the color is slightly off its pretty accurate. Great builders!
I would lean toward a black/deep charcoal leaving the sidelights white. It will pick up on the black of the lead while IMO the blue door will probably detract from the lovely blue glass. Or, leave it white so the blue glass POPS.
