Exactly what we're planning to do with the space one day! Right down the back you can actually stand up in there, so there's enough space. Hopefully grab some more when they've finished up. Looking forward to being able to step out to the end (living area) and see exactly how the view will look. I too am planning to build a double storey weatherboard house in the Melbourne area. It makes me a bit nervous as none of the builders seem to build full weatherboard any more. Which builder are you with? I'm probably going to OB but I'd like to check out my options. Looking forward to seeing how things progress. Re: Knockdown/rebuild Classic style weatherboard Melbourne 53May 02, 2013 10:13 am Looks good - this is definitely the fastest part of the build – check site every day to get photos as we missed a couple of days and missed some major milestones. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Knockdown/rebuild Classic style weatherboard Melbourne 54May 02, 2013 12:42 pm Hi guys, thanks for the great comments. I'm sorry I haven't updated for awhile. There was a 2 week delay whilst they were waiting on steel beams. They got delivered Monday, and yesterday the 2nd story timber arrived. I'm going to take some photos this arvo and post them. Smitho, we're building with Highview Homes. They do a lot of cottage style looking homes. We're doing a modified version of their double story. My avatar there is what the end product will look like, with a few slight changes. I should add it's not actually weatherboard, it's the synthetic product they use these days, cladding or whatever you call it? Looks pretty good. I looked on their website a while back but didn't notice any two storey places - guess I need to look harder. So you're using synthetic weatherboard? I was think of doing the same thing. There's a product called scyon linea or something that I was looking at. Very interested to know what you'll be using. I'm hoping for something lower maintenance than traditional waetherboard. Re: Knockdown/rebuild Classic style weatherboard Melbourne 56May 02, 2013 6:43 pm Hi Smitho, Just looked it up, it's the Primeline Summit, which is a composite. So it does have wood in it. My mistake! But yes I think there is definitely a longer life for your paint using this. It's a modified Federation 257, so yes the standard double story is Federation style. If you go to 'custom' on their site, ours is there (top right). That photo doesn't do it justice however! Way too windy though so we didn't take many. Unfortunately can't say the same for ground level (the main level!) What can you do?
