Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1061Jan 15, 2015 4:34 pm Hi Melissa, We have the very driveway the your looking for, it is a 2 part process with a couple of weeks in between i.e lay concrete then they come back and mark the pattern via chalkline, then it all gets sprayed with the top coating. Ours is the largest diamond pattern 800x800 and in charcoal. There has been a few others that have had the same done as well. I'm in Fernadell Dr, so feel free to pop in and have a closer look should you want we're usually always home and happy to answer any questions. All of our concreting including around the pool was done by a local guy Mitchell Duck of Ducky's concreting. We found him a little more expensive than others but an outstanding professional (who doesn't always get back to you straight away) that we highly recommend and has done a fantastic job. As for doing it yourself after concrete pour, I'm not really sure any concreter would be up for it as they can't guarantee that the pour will be satisfactory as it would have to be quite smooth I would guess so that the next step would take...if that makes sense! Most concreter's like to pour the concrete themselves to the way it has to be before any type of finish is to be done but there's no harm in asking an actual concreter...just give a few locals a call or just inbox me for Mitchell's number As for the pool, we used Award pools which are located in Castle hill, and are extremely happy to recommend them as well. Check out my blog for more details and photos if you like Best of luck Michelle Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1062Jan 30, 2015 8:36 pm SOLAR POWER....not one house ive seen has it. Is it even allowed? And if yes why hasnt anyone installed it? I know the govt rebated arent what they used to be but im sure itll still reduce costs. Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1064Feb 06, 2015 6:07 am Community service announcement... Everyone in Quarry St seems to have gotten very confused by the extra recycling services over January. Had their yellow bins out this week and green the week before which was wrong and they would not have got collected. This coming Tuesday/Wednesday (10th/11th) is YELLOW. Sheffield 27 with Eden Brae Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1065Feb 09, 2015 9:03 pm Hi everyone, Very excited as we got our CDC approval today....Finally! Can't wait to finally see something might start happening on our land within the next month. Just wondering how everyone else on Moorhen St is progressing. We were out there on the weekend and noticed the two MacDonald Jones Homes beside us have their fences up and a couple on the bigger blocks at the end of the street have their fences up too. So exciting to be able to go out there and see everything coming together and everyone starting this process. Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1066Feb 12, 2015 2:39 pm Welcome to the forum Steve and Leonie I'm happy you popped in Congratulations on getting your approval through, woohoo. I bet your super excited now just to see the progress begin Happy to help with anything I can and I wish you all the very best with your build. May I ask what made you decide to build in Vermont? We have been here for over 12 months now and through this site, we have made some wonderful and hopefully life time friendships. We actually had 3 couples join us for drinks and nibbles last Sunday and it was fantastic for us all to meet each other face to face. These couples were building around the same time as us...some later, but we all got along famously and spoke of each other's experiences with builds. We had a lot of laughter and I for one certainly can't wait to do it again! I look forward to watching your build grow and look forward to speaking with you again Michelle Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1067Feb 14, 2015 11:38 am Hi Steve and Leonie There certainly is some progress in Moorhen Street. I also noticed the McDonald Jones homes across the road on the weekend with the fences up. I was wondering where your site pegs were. They won't be far along now that you have your CDC approval. I received my CDC approval back in December and finally signed off on the end panel last week. Currently waiting for construction plans to be drawn. Have been told that Wisdom hope to start site works before the end of February (I am not holding my breath), but should be there by first week in March. It is certainly getting exciting. I am looking forward to meeting more of my neighbours and moving in! Michelle - how long did you have to wait to drive on the driveway? Were you able to drive on it between the 2 processes? Carla Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1068Feb 15, 2015 7:16 pm Hi Carla, We waited About a week before driving on the driveway once it was first laid. This is standard with all concretors. Then once the second coat was done about 4 weeks later (curing time), we couldn't drive on it for a week Michelle Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1069Feb 17, 2015 2:52 pm Thanks Michelle. I am just pre-planning (very much in advance) moving in time estimates to try to work out when will be the best to take a week off work to move in with the pets and unpack! Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1070Feb 17, 2015 8:46 pm It's great to be prepared and organised early in the game Carla, well done. I wouldn't worry about the driveway too much as some people have left it until after they move in! For us tho, we wanted it done straight away and given that we couldn't drive on it for the first week, we were still able to walk on it and bring furniture into the house on a trolley. How's things going with Wisdom Homes, are you happy with the process thus far? We built the Impression (turning 40m2 into 46m2) about 4 years ago and I can't believe how much they have changed the design since then. We had the BEST site supervisor you could ask for and our build went to plan with no problems what-so-ever, it was the best experience you could get from a project builder! Unfortunately we couldn't go with Wisdom with this build as we now have a much bigger block and a double story would look so out of place so we ended up with what we've got now I hope your experience with Wisdom is as happy as ours was, I look forward to watching your home grow Best of luck Michelle Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1071Feb 21, 2015 6:03 pm Hi everyone, Our block has been cleared and piering has commenced so we should see a slab in no time! Just a question around side gates.. we're hoping to get the charcoal grey slat style (think they are called Marbeau). Just wondering which company everyone has used in the estate as we're hoping to get some quotes done. Also, does anyone know if the Ferns will be getting footpaths in the future or whether the streets will remain without? Thanks again! Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1072Feb 22, 2015 5:36 pm Hi guys We are building in pitt town and nearly at the stage for fencing . Can anyone recommend anyone and know what they roughly paid for ezyclip per metre. I have a half acres lot so I hope it's not to much . Cheers Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1074Feb 24, 2015 3:32 pm Things are certainly moving along in Moorhen Street with multiple slabs now laid and more soon to be laid. I noticed both my side neighbours have started, hopefully I will soon join them. Just awaiting the finalisation of my construction plans due back any day. Michelle - the administration process with Wisdom has been very very slow (but I think this is with any building company). Looking forward to construction phase. I was curious about the driveway as I am also doing some cementing around front, side and back of the house and this all needs to be complete before the dog moves in (her kennel needs to go on some of the cement) and I also need the turf laid (as my dog can be a little destructive)! I know its early but trying to roughly put in leave so I get it when I need it! Looking forward to meeting my site supervisor who hopefully is one of the good ones. Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1075Mar 04, 2015 9:19 am Carla, EVERY builder suffers with the branding of 'SLOW ADMIN' it's the downfall of building unfortunately and something that we all go through no matter what. I'm sure you will have a very competent SS and no doubt he'll make sure your build runs smoothly and accordingly. Good luck with the progress Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1076Mar 04, 2015 5:23 pm Well today u get text from MJH saying roof and bricks finished . Go out to house and what do you know bricks not finished. Still All sill and front columns . Then I ask if kitchen could rise 40mm and reduce splash back and they say $2300 . I fell over. I'm not happy Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 1077Mar 04, 2015 7:55 pm hi Gohmsen, just wanted to offer some words of comfort re: the text message and your dismay of seeing the work wasn't finished to the stage you were expecting... We found this happened with us too (also built with MJH) and discovered that these messages are automated. Sometimes it means the order for the next stage has gone through - they have to "tick off" that one part has been completed so the next part can keep moving forward. Unfortunately, it means we sometimes get disappointed because the message is a little inaccurate with the timing. It is a good thing though, as it means that you aren't losing time between stages. Hang in there! Re the extra cost to change the height of the kitchen... Sheesh! This is it though - they don't want you to make changes after everything has started. We didn't add any extra height to our benchtops (apart from getting the 40 mm stone tops with the upgrade) and our height is pretty well perfect - I was a little concerned we would lose height as we had tiling done ourselves after handover, but it's all ended up completely fine. And this is coming from someone who has always had extra high benchtops in previous houses (father is a builder - apparently it's a "thing" that they like the extra height!). I'm sure you'll find yours will be ok. Fingers and toes crossed for you! I'm doing a new kitchen after handover as to upgrade it was more that I can make a new one in polyurethane for. So I'm doing 60mm stone as well . I'm keeping the mirrored splash back thought so I'm just try to get that installed a bit higher . Did you end up doing it? Postal Service Vermont Estate at Pitt Town 1080Jul 30, 2015 9:15 am Anyone heard any news regarding the postal service in Vermont? The Estate is almost full and we still have our temp letter boxes out front making the streets look average. O_Jay Here is the update: - Called PO - "Nothing to do with us, mail is delivered by Aus Post Contractor, contact Aus Post. Developer should have told you" - Called Vermont - "Oh, we only just found out about this recently" [Oh please!!!] "We will look into it and getting something into our design guidelines" [Not going to help me is it] - Called Aus Post - "We have lodged your complaint with the delivery centre, someone from our back office team will call you back in 1-2 weeks with an update" [Waiting for "too bad we aren't changing anything until maybe the whole estate is finished" call] I will be joining you all with my cheap Bunnings letter box this evening Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24807 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17849 |
