Hi Melissa,
We have the very driveway the your looking for, it is a 2 part process with a couple of weeks in between i.e lay concrete then they come back and mark the pattern via chalkline, then it all gets sprayed with the top coating. Ours is the largest diamond pattern 800x800 and in charcoal. There has been a few others that have had the same done as well. I'm in Fernadell Dr, so feel free to pop in and have a closer look should you want we're usually always home and happy to answer any questions. All of our concreting including around the pool was done by a local guy Mitchell Duck of Ducky's concreting. We found him a little more expensive than others but an outstanding professional (who doesn't always get back to you straight away) that we highly recommend and has done a fantastic job.
As for doing it yourself after concrete pour, I'm not really sure any concreter would be up for it as they can't guarantee that the pour will be satisfactory as it would have to be quite smooth I would guess so that the next step would take...if that makes sense!
Most concreter's like to pour the concrete themselves to the way it has to be before any type of finish is to be done but there's no harm in asking an actual concreter...just give a few locals a call or just inbox me for Mitchell's number
As for the pool, we used Award pools which are located in Castle hill, and are extremely happy to recommend them as well.

Best of luck
