Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2013 6:52 pm Hi everyone, We finally received our footings back this week and looks like we're 100% going ahead now, so I can finally start my own thread! My husband & I are first home builders and have been looking forward to this ever since we moved to Adelaide 2 1/2 years ago. Now all we have to do is agree on colours lol, didnt realise how hard it would be to even choose bricks!!! We're now at the stage of just waiting for council approval (hopefully wont take too long) but our land will settle on the 14th March and we signed all our house contracts back in December, woo! We're building the Arizona through Sterling with a few modifications in League Street. If I can figure out how to post images I'll upload our floorplan, so excited!! Next on the to do list... Get quotes on flooring & aircon Go to selections! Will keep everyone posted on colour slections! Debbee Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 2Mar 02, 2013 6:58 pm Awesome Debbee! Can't wait to see the photos and progress! Have you got any photos to show us yet? Plans or colour choices? Goodluck with it all! Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 3Mar 03, 2013 2:56 pm So happy for you that your footings have come back OK. I am also waiting on footings and it is driving me crazy I am on Orca, so very close. I also never imagined how difficult colour selections for items such as bricks could be! We originally had lot 849 but took 828 jackstaff instead! Just out of curiousity, how much were your footings? Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 10Mar 24, 2013 12:57 pm Hi, Thanks for your help with my pics Sammy! I always thought I was not too bad with technology but looks like I was wrong, lol! Our footings came back just over $20k. We've just been getting quotes for retaining walls as well as they are meant to be up before our build starts. Luckily its not too crazy! I think I saw you at your house last week too, next time I'll stop and say hi! Also, if anyone knows which air con systems are good and which arent I'd love to know. At the moment we're liking the samsung best (refrigerated). Deb Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 11Mar 24, 2013 2:31 pm Debee, all depends on what you want to achieve with your A/C and on what budget. We have requested quotes from 5 different ac installers leaving up to them to suggest the brand. Based on those quotes we've done our own research and ended up with Actron ESP plus system, the best we were able to find on single phase power and for less then 15K. Almost on par with it was a Daikin model, but less powerfull and more expensive. I'd suggest you to take similar approach, get different quotes, as many as you can and start your research based on on that. We've received offers from 9k to 17k, so it was quite enough to make an educated choice. Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 12Mar 24, 2013 5:01 pm No worries, happy to help Wow, 20k... I guess it'll all even out in the end. Can't help with the aircon, I can't remember what ours is! We all do it so you are not alone. Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 14Apr 15, 2013 12:36 pm Thanks Ragnar, We've been busy getting lots of quotes the last couple of weeks & Andy we had selections on Wednesday, was draining but so exciting at the same time! Looks like we're going to do flooring and air con after hand over to save some money which will be great. Will upload some pics in a minnie if I can work it out again lol! Thanks everyone, finally feels like its really about to all start happening, Debbee Re: Sterling Build @ Seaford Meadows 15Apr 15, 2013 1:39 pm Ok so we have; Brick and tile choices; http://s1309.photobucket.com/user/debbe ... sort=3&o=3 Kitchen Warm white cupboards with white speckled bench top, red splashback (metallic), grey breakfast bar (white cupboards). http://s1309.photobucket.com/user/debbe ... sort=3&o=2 Ensuite charcoal floor tiles, white wall tiles with stone look feature above vanity and down 1 wall in the shower.
