Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 28, 2013 11:16 pm Just wondering what's the deal with prices for Dulux paint? We were going to paint ourselves so I went to Dulux Trade Centre and been quoted $220 for 15L of paint, where at Bunnings the same paint is going for $175...??? Are there any advantages in buying the paint from the Trade Center vs Bunnings/Masters? Can they justify such a price difference? Thoughts? Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 2Mar 01, 2013 8:40 am Just go with bunnings. It is the same paint but at the trade store you would find there service would be better. I know that is generally the case, but I mean the benfit for a professional painter to use a trade store and the aftersales service he/she would receive. Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 3Mar 01, 2013 10:17 am Just in general reading this forum a few people suggest NEVER to get colour made up at bunnings but to go to dulux. We used bunnings and both batches of same colour were slightly different but who knows if that's common or not Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 4Mar 01, 2013 3:14 pm LeanneR Just in general reading this forum a few people suggest NEVER to get colour made up at bunnings but to go to dulux. We used bunnings and both batches of same colour were slightly different but who knows if that's common or not So you're saying LeanneR that it will be better in the long run to pay more through Dulux Trade Center than go to Bunnings? Wonder if you can negotiate the price with Trade Center and ask them to match it or at least get close to it? Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 5Mar 01, 2013 6:06 pm I'm not sure if Perth have them, but I purchased my paint at my local The Paint Spot. They had a 20% sale so I purchased it to paint my new owner built house. In the end I decided to get a professional to paint it. At least I know the quality of paint they used. After the 20% off, it was very close to what the painters could buy it for, so I was happy with that. At the advice of the store I ended up buying Haymes Ultra Premium sealer and ceiling white and Wattyl ID wall paint. I tell you, the painters burn through the paint when they aren't paying for it! lol But the paint looks very thick and luscious. 1 coat of sealer and 3 coats of ceiling white will do that. Anyway, get the local store to match Bunnings, the service will be infinitely better. You may even get a better price. In the end, my paint job is very good and much better than I could do myself. Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 6Mar 02, 2013 10:18 am As mentioned by LeanneR, the paint matching process at bunnings leaves a lot to be desired. if you are buying all your paint in 1 hit, it should be fine. obviously if you got to the paint shop and ask about there pricing, it costs you nothing, and they may do it! Re: Dulux Paint Pricing 7Mar 02, 2013 11:43 am For me, it depends on how much you're buying. If its one 15 litre tin, that's $45. But if you have to buy 3 or 4 of them then that's alot of money I'd rather have in my pocket! We are currently painting our house (walls only) and the service and quality of the paint tinting has been perfect. So for me, I'd rather buy the same product at Bunnings and save the $45 a tin for other things (of which there are MANY!!) Happy painting Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well. A Renderer I… 12 18071 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7158 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5727 |
