We are Owner Building and our building designer submitted the plans at the end of March - they came back to us regarding the issues they had - we live on 5 acres so therefore had to submit a development application etc. We then had a few dramas with no one being able to locate a set of plans for the existing house and locating the septic tanks and leech drains etc The guys I was dealing with were trying to progress it as quickly as possible and it was us and our designer that held things up. Once they had everything they needed it was progressed with 9 days Cheers AKB <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Wanneroo Council 3Mar 01, 2013 3:24 pm The process of obtaining a building permit has recently changed. You can now have your plans assessed by an independent assessor who assess the plans, provide a certificate of design compliance and then send a certified application to the local authority for signing and issuing of the permit. It is a mandatory 10 day turnaround - if they havent assessed by then it is deemed refused. The other option is to lodge an uncertified permit (old system). I would assume builder is using certified application. If your builder has ensured the plans adhere to the Building code and meet all planning requirements there shouldnt be any problems getting a permit. Unfortunately we werent so lucky - a calammity of rediculous errors and multiple applications meant we waited months. City of Wanneroo were pretty good however. They have also been pretty good responding to my queries. However thier building permit retaining wall policy is too strict imo. Re: Wanneroo Council 4Mar 01, 2013 3:35 pm As someone who previously used to submit all the planning and building licence applications for a building company, Wanneroo are one of the best councils to deal with! My husband and I are also currently building in Trinity, Alkimos and our plans were approved in less than week.
