Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 27, 2013 9:26 pm Hi all,
I'm looking for ideas on ways to hang towels up in a bathroom that has next to no free wall space. Hooks don't appeal (towels never dry on them), and I've seen some interesting heated towel rails but none that really make sense to me. We have about 50cm of wall between the shower and the toilet but I'm just not keen on the ideal of hanging towels in that location (doesn't seem sanitary to me!) For reference the longest wall in there is 3300mm (the exterior wall): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ On Monday I need to decide whether or not to ditch the spa option entirely, which looks probable since I just can't work out where towels go in this layout Edit: fixed the image, that's what I get for posting so late at night. Sorry guys. I've always liked this idea from the Corkellis house on Grand Designs. I wasn't able to find anywhere that sold anything like it but if you are handy it doesn't look too hard to make. If you have a normal hinged door you could put towel rails on the back of it. Good luck! Hope you dont have to lose your spa! It'll be a bit tight tho b/c we're extending the shower to a 1200mm shower so there should be (fingers crossed) about 20cm for a very narrow towel rail to slot in there. Or we might go with "Towel arms" that will be on the wall b/n shower and spa. http://www.caroma.com.au/bathrooms/bathroom-accessories/cosmo/cosmo-metal-towel-arms Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ or this one looks pretty cool http://www.tradelink.com.au/product-showroom/bathroom-accessories/bathroom-towel-rails/KOHLER®_Loure™_Towel_Arm__454mm|115065 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There are heated options too for swivel towel arms - reeces have them http://www.wayfair.com/Stilhaus-by-Nameeks-Diana-Free-Standing-Towel-Stand-in-Chrome-DI19-08-SKZ1011.html Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ this one linked above is nice (but not the price!!!) We too are extending the shower to 1200mm so space is definitely tight. All those tips are helpful, thank you very much. I'm also look at a heated wall-mount rail to go beside the entry. We've put a doorway on the entrance to the ensuite/WIR so that's another possibility. Re: Innovative towel rail options? 8Mar 01, 2013 6:36 pm Lurgen Aha, thank you! Hey, let me know if and when you get the details of the spa. We've been asking for a brochure on it too. Pathetic that they can't give us the details before hand. You'd never go into a shop and buy one sight unseen, or at least you'd get to see a brochure before you buy it. I've got no idea about how many jets it has or anything! I've got no idea about how many jets it has or anything! You won't get a meaningful answer from PD on this one, partly because they rebrand somebody elses spa for their builds. They use TradeLink, and if I have my facts straight (not guaranteed, so take this with a grain of salt)... The contract states "Decina PD Corner Traditional SPA 1295", which I believe equates to a Raymor Aruba 1295 Traditional Corner Spa. This has 4 centro jets, 1 air control, an auto-heat pump and has a 165L working capacity. You get an external powerpoint for the heat pump, and your vanity bench shrinks by 200mm. I have asked my SC if I can upgrade to the "Classic" model which has lumbar jets and an extra air control. Might as well make sure I have a good one eh? Check out http://www.tradelink.com.au/resources/attachments/bathsandspas/R_CaribbeanBathSpa_8pg_LR.pdf for a picture and more technical specs... Re: Innovative towel rail options? 10Mar 01, 2013 9:24 pm Some ideas: Free standing frame, any style; a fun ladder style or coat hanger style, one hanging below the other. What about the space behind the door? If you have enough clearance, this can work with a "stopper" on the door. You might as well have a good one if you're gonna get one! Any idea on the price difference to upgrade? Four jets is hardly worth it... Def worth upgrading if they let us! Googled Decina and here is their 2013 catalogue: http://decina.com.au/wp-content/uploads/DECINA-2013-CATALOGUE-WEB-5mb.pdf Each bath has three spa options: the Santai, Contour and Dolce Vita (see pg 42 and 43 for the pics and pg 27 for the comparison of the three versions and pg 56 onwards for specs) Re: Innovative towel rail options? 13Mar 02, 2013 7:39 am I love the freestanding towel rail, we don't have a door into our ensuite so that would work out great - thanks <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Innovative towel rail options? 14Mar 05, 2013 2:16 pm I'd go a Rectangular Spa to free up space (also reduced wasting water when only one person bathing) Also Decina Baths very expensive, see if they will source you a Novelli. And yes don't go for a base model, no point. Re: Innovative towel rail options? 16Mar 06, 2013 2:47 pm Why not hang them above the bath? We are doing this - the Bath will be empty more times than full Re: Innovative towel rail options? 17Mar 06, 2013 2:57 pm You can't have heated towel rails above a bath, re electricity and dying, but non heated ones would work above the bath. ( at least you can't have a heated rail within 500mm of a bath over here, might be different there) Re: Innovative towel rail options? 18Mar 06, 2013 7:48 pm donna61 I'd go a Rectangular Spa to free up space (also reduced wasting water when only one person bathing) Also Decina Baths very expensive, see if they will source you a Novelli. And yes don't go for a base model, no point. We asked during our tender appointment about having a rectangular spa (which we'd prefer), but it's not an option for the Drysdale due to lack of space (and that they won't reconfigure the ensuite to suit a rectangular spa) . Here's some info on the spa that I took a pic of at our colours appointment. You got a choice of spa models during your colours appointment? This wasn't even mentioned in mine and is taking all week to get clarification on. Turns out they skipped over quite a few things in that session, probably because we were booked for an hour less than standard to accommodate another persons session. I'm furious right now, I'm downright sick and tired of finding these oversights. HD Re: Innovative towel rail options? 20Mar 08, 2013 11:19 am Lurgen Wtf?!!? Turns out they skipped over quite a few things in that session, probably because we were booked for an hour less than standard to accommodate another persons session. I'm furious right now, I'm downright sick and tired of finding these oversights. HD We asked to see information on the spa and she took out this booklet. It has every bath and spa available for all the ranges in it. The bath we would have liked in the bathroom (which is on display) is no longer available for lifestyle homes but is for prestige. Go figure! We've now just realised the bench in the pantry is not included, it's such a pain that they assume you know a lot of what is and isn't included when there is so much to take in esp when you can't have any of the internal elevation drawings to check over. So now I've contacted our BC to put the bench in, there's no way we will go without a bench in our pantry! They swapped our appointments around too, we were meant to have colours at 9 then electrical at 11:30. We did electrical first and then had to wait for our colours. Meant it all took longer than we had planned and hubby had to end up with the whole day off work rather than a half day Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall.
