Yep, definitely for the areas being rendered. Are you rendering the letterbox as well? Our letterbox brickie used a variety of mocha, smooth, and pgh sample bricks (vino, chocolatto)we collected from our trips to the brickyard. Render covered it up and we sanded back and used textured paint to cover some of the imperfections.
Hi Cody, yes we are going to render the front pillars and yes would like to render the letter box as well similar to the pillars.
How was moving and settling in the new house, have not seen you updating your blog for a while? A few days ago we drove passed your street and saw two girls standing right end of the street near ChrisSarah’s house and one was holding two big beautiful dogs, I thought it might be you Cody and two guys were working hard playing in the corner lot. When are you going to do your house fences , any quote yet.
Moving was a pain in the butt haha...I think because we did it over holidays, that's all we did over the Christmas Break, we just set ourselves up. By the first week of January we were over it. No tv for the first 17 days, very few neighbours around etc. But I am very happy with how the house is looking.
I really want to update the blog, but we didn't get Opticomm out until January 6, and now iinet have been delaying us (it has been two weeks since we signed up!), so we still have no phone or internet, despite having all the gear to do so...or so we think. Everyone seems to blame Opticomm but I don't think they have done anything wrong . Also, Foxtel sent us the wrong box. We ordered one for a fibre community and they sent us the items you need for a satellite set up. Basically if wee have had to rely on someone else for something, something has gone wrong!
Latest updates:
- The letterbox has been rendered, painted, and numbers put on.
- Colorbond fence has been put up at the rear, and between our house and next door (still waiting to get the side fence done. We had a quote for $12,000 We don't have $12,000 to spend on one side of a fence so we are looking elsewhere.
- We are likely getting our pavers for the garden bed from Hayters paving on the Northern Road. Cheaper than Bunnings or Masters and their customer service was top notch.
- Still no extra fence quotes! Like getting blood from a stone...
- Inside the house: fans, pendants and downlights have been added. Feature walls have been painted and all but two rooms have been set up (the study and theatre room are looking pretty sad right now).
The person with the dogs wasn't me. I wish I had them with us but they are still at my parents house until the final part of the fence goes up and we get the backyard concreted and grassed for them (to dig up). I have seen someone in the area with two lovely German Shepherds, and I think I have seen Mrs avalanche walk their two dogs before. My lovely dogs are boofheads and difficult to handle
hehe I will check how many we have and keep some bricks aside just in case your SS doesn't manage to keep any. But I do like your chances. He always came across as the type to 'expect the worst, hope for the best', or underpromise and overdeliver. At least that's how it worked out for us. The house is looking good - it's looking like a house more and more each day!
I can feel the pain you would have gone through during your move, one of terrible things I would say. You are in and pretty much settled which is good and also feel of new house I guess will take the pain away.
We had similar issues with iinet and opticom when we moved in Glenfield vista estate which is a newly developed area and had to wait for about 6 weeks before everything was up and running and I can remember giving them calls on daily basis for an update.
OMG fence expense is just so high I was hoping somewhere between 5 to 6 k but you have scared me Cody.
I met my SS Thursday last week and found him easy going and a friendly person. Hopefully he can finish our house around March.
Please post some more photos when you get iinet up and running. Wanna see the kitchen and stuff.
And thanks for the bricks offer
