So far you are the closest build to ours that I've come across on this forum. Look forward to following your progress Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 26Sep 10, 2013 3:33 pm We are building at the new orleana waters estate in evanston gardens. Only at the very beginning of the whole process. Just signed with the builder last week and land getting finalized this week! Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 27Sep 10, 2013 5:56 pm Nice. Are you building with Devine? and what house plan have you chosen? Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 28Sep 10, 2013 6:48 pm We are also building with Fairmont. We went to them with a modified statesman design and they ended up suggesting something similar to one of their designs which was modified for a previous client which we liked more anyway so we went with that but modified it more. It's actually pretty close to the same as nicks here actually. It's based on the grand. Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 29Sep 10, 2013 7:16 pm Hi Carmen, Yeah, thats pretty much what i did, it was the grand modified to fix on a 18m frontage. I was also looking at orleana waters, they had less encumbrances than at Aspire. and you could build on boundary on a massive house. I wouldnt mind having a look at your design, if you choose to create a thread be sure to let me know. -Nick Signed 24/2/13 Settled 16/5/13 Selections 9/7/13 Approved 25/7/13 Slab 9/9/13 Frame 20/10/13 Bricking TBA My Build Thread Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 30Sep 10, 2013 8:09 pm Hi Nick, yeah we looked over at Aspire too but in the end Orleana Waters won out for us. We has issues getting a block that was going to fit the house on but ended up with a 17.5 frontage by almost 32m. we are going to have to have a boundry build but it looks as though many of the houses in the estate have done the same. Will probably make my own thread when everything has moved along a little. We are still waiting on the final plans to be redrawn as we made a few more small changes. Its pretty much the same as yours but we added in the double robe to main with the the ensuite behind and then added a computer nook between the bedroom and laundry, making the family room smaller but that was a pretty big room to start with and then made the alfresco slightly bigger. other than that it was just a few small modifications like the store room door opening out so that there could be shelves running along 2 walls as left the way it was the door was in the way and we made the shower in the main bathroom bigger as it turns out there is just an empty cavity behind the linen cupboard. if you have a look at the plans it shows the linen cupboard is 600 deep (i think from memory) when the actual cupboard only goes 420 deep, and we widened the entrance. I'll let you know when i get my plans up eventually Who did you have as your sales guy from Fairmonts and were they good to deal with? Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 32Sep 10, 2013 9:11 pm Cheers Guys Carmen, yes the linen cavity had to be filled out, that cost an extra $84 to do, so make sure its in your contract, also bright and lite mortar is an extra 500, just as a heads up.. a large entrance would have been nice but wouldn't have fit, otherwise i would have had the grand as is. The sales rep i had was John Baker, Fairmonts aren't bad to deal with, so far in the build. Thanks for the heads up on the mortar too, will check my quote on the linen cupboard too. Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 34Sep 15, 2013 1:27 pm Nah keep calling him as your paying for his service so hassle hassle hassle! I liked the bigger entrance too but figured having an open walkway in the home theatre will help compensate that. Fingers crossed it will work out. Are you putting that niche in on the entrance too? We were going to but it took too much of the room up on the otherside. I think he said about $800 for a small niche in the shower cubicle so i hated to think what a larger one in a entrance would cost lol. You are probably right about the openess of the home theatre, we had thought about adding doors to the two openings but my husband was against it. After thinking about it the doors when open would have been in the way anyway so we too have square openings. Well after i realised on the plan the square openings were missing and has them added back in. Are you getting the built in cupboards for the tvs in the family room and home theatre? im hoping to but depends on the cost once we get to selections Re: First Home Builder, Northern Suburbs SA 37Nov 11, 2013 5:35 pm Hi All, Sorry for the late reply but i have been flat out with everything!! but i bring good news, an update on the house and some Piccies!! Carmen1828, yes i am getting the built in cupboards in the HT and family room, i cant remember the cost but it was ok. I have also organised for some data cabling to go where the TV's are going and then data points everywhere for my network and NBN.
