Browse Forums Building A New House Re: anybody building with hickinbotham? 21Mar 16, 2013 2:21 pm The consultant made an "allowance" in the quote as he said with footings he would prefer to over quote than under quote, which is great really. He is still deciding whether to go with their paving around the house and riveway and air conditioning or to out source. He will be out sourcing the carpets as we know a carpet layer and he can get the carpet cheaper and better quality than what Hickies will have. Some places you have to have NBN so he is getting it at the time of build to save on the cost later. Did you qualify for the $30000 bonus "items" for $5000?? When was that offer made? I want some things that are not in the selection book--same supplier but a different model, that sort of thing. Does anyone know if Hickinbotham allows that? I realise it will cost more, but it would be useful to know if they are flexible if the costs are covered. If we don't hear more from you hachy, safe trip and all the best for Tuesday. Jo, your son must be close to his selections now--has he made an appointment? Re: anybody building with hickinbotham? 23Mar 16, 2013 4:33 pm no we unfortunately didnt qualify for the $30 000 deal, do you remember what was in the deal exactly? some people are skeptical whether you actually are getting 30 000 worth of upgrades. i wonder if we had have qualified for the deal if we would have liked the upgrades. we got hickies to do the aircon and perimeter paving for us as we are 6hrs away so it is just easier to have it done for us even though we are probably paying more by doing it this way. i think it depends on if you want to save that little bit extra cash or convenience of having it done before you move in. they are also doing all our flooring too once again convenience for our situation. these things better be pretty accurate or over quoted otherwise we might have to look at getting it done elsewhere if the price changes dramatically. we like this colour scheme for the bathroom and ensuite but i am guessing those tiles cost a fortune that we wont be able to afford but i do love the look of them.
