Re: Roof solar power system install Help! 8Feb 21, 2013 3:54 pm atom_ute Not sure of your location - but in QLD you are limited to a 5kW inverter. As such it doesn't make sense to install that many extra panels as they will only be useful 1-2 hrs a day when there isn't full sun. Our house is 328sqm, but I would base my system needs upon current and expected usage. My system is predicted to produce an average of 24kW per day, with our expected usage (2 people heavily using electricity + pool pump) around 22kw per day. So the system that we have should offset our usage + result in a small refund each quarter. Panels are for electricity only - hotwater and cooking will be natural gas. As long as the QLD government doesn't fiddle with the feed in tariff (FIT) it should pay itself off in 3 1/2 years. A really good calculator is on the energy matters website - type in your location and daily usage (shown on your bill) and it will show a comparison across different sized systems http://www.energymatters.com.au/climate-data/ Thanks so much for your explanation, really appreciate it! Our relationship with the owner is good, but I'm not sure if I want to impose putting a pole on their property. Your conversation with your neighbour must have gone well… 4 9304 the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 12513 That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8630 |
